I posted at the start of this month i had bought a SWB N/a with a naff engine and was planning on doing a TT swap among other things and general tinkery stuffs.... ( BTW i bought this with a Big end Bearing gone.....)

Well i started to strip her down and upon removing the R/h Wing i found this abomination!

Then obviously having to remove the engine and planning on stripping the underside i start removing the engine beginning with the Fluids and find a certain something peeping out the sump! (the dipstick i knew about when buying the car and the look on the owners face when i asked him where the rest of it was was priceless)

This next one isnt detrimental but i thought, at least I've gained something so far from buying this.....

Now for my favorite surprise ive had yet...

On the drive home the torque delivery is super high from low down, it pulls as fast as my clio 182 sport in 2nd as the zed does in 5th! (there maybe a placaebo here due to the large amounts of noise)

Just a little updated from my mapping session.

I have Gravigard'd my rear arches before they got destroyed by stone chips. (no pics but could easily update later)

I have purchased a lovely sized K&N filter as mine was somewhat in adequate.

On my way home from the mapping session when giving it short bursts of the WOT my oil temps were shooting up. The mixture was extremely rich before mapping which makes me think it was a good thing he was so close as the fuel may have made it into the oil system and thinned it. I intended to go with noel as he is a wizard with this stuff but again timings werent brilliant and i was impatient. To remede this i have a Mocal 13 or 16 (cant remeber) 235mm oil cooler with a thermostatic sandwich plate.

And for the purpose of Mondo on here i took a pic of one of my seats in the sunlight so i may aswell bulk the post up ;)

Nice job you have done underneath mate. Out of interest where did you get the vh from, I'm considering it as a future project.

I'd say that's definitely Charcoal Alcantara on your seat centres, mate :)

I got it from Canada dougal. It costs a fair amount to get it over here

Also getting that engine in is only part one of the plan...

Part 2 will come after its actually been used haha

Been away for a little while on 'vacation' with my Job in the Raf. Happy to now say i handed my ID card in last week :clown:

Anyway first thing i did was give the car an oil change and then got cracking on with my Evo 9 Recaro's..

Heres the passenger one fitted.

Must say they are such a snug fit, and im happy with the divers positon, its quite low so may not be for everyone.

Got my Tachometer working also its not spot on but its a 'close ballpark' figure if there is such a thing haha.

Today will be sorting my E-fans High speed setting and prepping for the oil cooler fit as i ordered some mocal parts and my sandwich plate wasnt recessed so i couldnt fit it....Pic below.

Stay tuned ;)

Loving that v8 Adam.

How are you getting on with the Mtec Brake discs?? I've been having a look at these myself, did you get the coated discs or are you having an issue with rusty hubs?? Also what offsets are you running on your Equips??

  • Author

Yeah the discs are good, i have carbotech xp8 pads on and they are pretty savage. I just got the regular discs, if they get some surface corrosion on them i just give the brakes a bit of using.

I have 18x9.5 up front with et28 (i think) and a 20mm spacer on as the spokes never cleared the caliper. They only just clear now.

On the rear are 18x11.5 with a et35 offset.

Thanks mate, so with the spacer on the front, that gives an offset of 48 or 8?

You worried about the spokes clearing the caliper?

My equips wouldnt clear then but most other wheels would.
