I am just about to buy a 300zx Jap import and am told it has the speed limited to 109mph.

How easy is it to 'overcome' this and at what cost?

JSpec are limited to 112mph, a speed delmiter box can be purchased for about £100 from Protech. They can also supply the new speedo faces for handling the KMH to MPH changes you will want to do.

Alternatively, if your ECU is socketed, I'm sure someone can do you a copy of your standard chip with the limiter removed (a 1 byte change). Or you could get an aftermarket chip, which will also remove the limiter.

I have a delimiter box on mine and have since upgraded the ECU, so I don't really need it. At some point I'll be selling the delimiter box (when I get round to removing it) and I'll be looking for £20 for it.

I was told that I had to leave the delimiter box on the car when I had my car chipped as it also deals with changing the speedo/wiring to read mph instead of kmh.

That's probably true, but I didn't get a convertor to do my kph to mph conversion, I changed my dials to UK spec.

The box I have on my car removes the speed limiter and that's it.

The speedo has had a UK face applied that reads up to 110mph.

I think this is to get through the SVA test.

It's still available, and as long as you have a 10mm ring spanner you can fit it in 5mins :D

Hi there im after a converter. How can i get it from you my good man?

Also if i pop the converter on, am i right in thinking I can leave the dials in kph and just disregard it. E.G. Like I just simply put a line through kph and replaced with mph.

You say i can fit the converter my self?

Click this link, you should see a pic of the delimiter itself.

All you need to do is remove the piece of plywood in the passenger footwell covering the electronics (4x M10 setscrews) then remove the ECU, (Lg phillips or M10 1/4 drive socket) disconnect the mail loom going into the ECU fit the Speed Delimiter inline and put it all back together. - EASY!

As for the speedo, I'd leave it as it and relish the fact that the needle bounces off the end stop when you're on WOT on a closed runway ;)
