RiP Maggie. At least you took no crap and were a strong leader although hated by many.

She did a lot of damage in selling off all our assets to foreign companies while spouting it would be good for everyone when all its done is keep prices rising and the UK has no control over it, closing down mines, and generally being in it for the rich while crushing the poor, half the problems of today were her doing.

But R.I.P nether the less.

Miners strikes and the car industry collapse in this country were caused by Labour backed unions and strikes. She broke the unions power only for Labour to bring them back again, that's why we are in this mess with the economy now. If Labour had been in power during the Falklands I can guarantee that they would be owned by Argentina now. Not saying she was perfect but compared to the other lot at the time, she was the best of a bad bunch.

I was a YTS student, shame they dont do it for the kids now, it may have been a pitance but at 16 £27.50 was all i needed as an incentive to gain business admin qualifications

Miners strikes in the early 70s threw out the last conservative government, labor brought the strikes to an end, when thatcher took over, they striked again, this time she dismantled the miners union, considered the largest and most powerful in the UK and privatized the rest of the coal industry. how can you place the blame on labor for that? The whole point of unions was to give power to the people over governments. something sorely missing in todays society.

She then privatized the gas and energy company's "for the good of the people", while john major sold off British rail.

But then i do not agree with anyone political party, they are all out to use manipulated statistics, failed policy's, and corruption to line there own pockets while forgetting about the real people of this country that make it tick.

I am in 100% full agreement with you

I couldn't agree more...

just check out Blair.... selling himself all over the world... no. not what he did to Britain... what he made of himself !!!!

I left school in 1983 and live in the Notts mining area so I have my own opinions.

This sums it up for me without getting all hot under the collar.

She will never be popular and selling off our assets was a bad move, but at least she was strong. She wouldn't have let Europe stomp all over us like they do now.

:thumbup1: well said and i agree with every word...RIP Maggie:sad:

Very much a divided opinion as expected...but disappointed at those in this thread speaking ill of the dead.

Disappointed is not the word I would use with the following quote from JAY c disgusted comes to mind

No Matter what your views are I am absolutely sickened by this quote

scargil is nowt but a mouthy sod who is still living the life of luxury on the back of the hard working, still getting handouts from the gevernment and the unions

thatcher in some ways may have done bad but her government left this country in a good finacial state all for labour to go and sqaunder it all away again, im not an expert in polotics and i dont think anyone on here is either but rejoicing in her death in my view is out of order, the country was very nearly bankrupt and could still go that way due to the usless labour goverment giving everything away that would never have happened under thatchers rule

R.I.P maggie, you did this country proud

it has been left because untill now it hasnt been requested to be removed, although its not right what was said it is an opinion, it will be discussed and removed or left once decided

i do not agree with jayc's post but i didnt think it shoudl have been removed but will discuss it as we always do and go from there

I never really took much interest in politics when i was a kid and maggie was in charge but i do know that she was a strong woman fighting in a mans world! It couldnt have been easy for her at all and she may have started a snowball effect of the current political situation but its down to ALL of the politicians and their parties why our country is so f*cked up now!!!!!!

Not respectful Mate, shes still dead and probably did what she believed was right...

Just because you disagree is still no reason to be so abusive...

if we all thought the same we would learn nothing and life would be boring...

RIP Maggie...

I agree with Steve Burns, and I would go further and ask why has that post been allowed to remain? - it clearly breaks the AUP.

Please state which part of the AUP has been broken

Remove my post if you wish, my father fought for king & country & died, fought for freedom & free speech, we are all entitled to our own opinions. Weather others agree or disagree is what makes this country, you just dont shoot someone down in flames because ''you'' are in control, thats what got the uk into this state in the first place, thats 'Thatcherite'.

I respect others opinions & expect those to respect mine.

it wont be removed, we dont have to agree on it but it wasnt removed and to be fair onbly one person has asked for it to be removed
