GuyZ,

This is really baking my noodle, that gorgeous pearl white 300ZX at SE with the Stillen kit on...the rear spoiler...is that a Stillen invention? I've been on Phuong's website as I can't get onto the Stillen site, firewall seems to think that the word "Stillen" is related to ENTERTAINMENT in some way...WTF?

On Phuong's site the rear Stillen spoilers that he's got don't really resemble that beasts' fantastic show of "I'm a f**kin' 'ard bastard...don't mess with me!!!" or else spoiler!

HELP!

I spoke to the owner Andy ages ago and I think he said it was a supra type that was modified to fit, I think you can get similar ones over here, You may have seen a black 200SX at SE which belongs to one of the writers for Max Power, he has a similar type fitted I think.

I think I remember reading a review on the car way back last year, and I think it is a modified Veilside one from a Supra. I can't guarantee it but I'm sure thats what it was -and its bloody expensive!!

Chris

that is a veilside supra rear wing, and if you had a good look at it, it does not fit properly at all, and lots of butchering later, it looks, well like it did on that car

Yeah Veilside combat kit - think it probably came from the Supra Kit altho they do make a combat kit for the Z - bit over the top for my liking.

Dont ya want a 600Zx - r sticker too? urrrgh Ricey frown.gif

Thanks guyZ,

Yeah, noticed it on the 200 aswell, bodykits are a funny old game aren't they?

Reason for me saying, is that I noticed that on quite a few of the kitted cars at SE that when you were looking from a distance they looked quite stunning. But when you got up close and personal some of the kits were dead ropey, the red car parked in the middle of the concourse was pukka, but the red car up on the lift(JAP MR) which Pete reckoned was a good 30K's worth was quite ropey. Don't get me wrong, it was a nice car but it left me thinking that cars that are kitted up don't really stand the test of time and mileage in the looks department!

Does anyone else agree or have an opinion? I am in two minds now as to what I am going to do with my car...was going to fully kit it out eventually but now I'm not so sure!

I agree. Aftermarket fibreglass is usually rather thin and doesn't really stand up to longterm road use. Often the paint isn't flexible enough and cracks pretty quickly. I think it belongs on racetracks where is gets bashed about every week, new panel, quick blow-over to the same colour, then thrown away at the end of the season.

My car will be staying standard, I prefer the more subtle approach - it gains far less attention from the unwelcome. My car will also be staying the fairly anonymous standard blue rather than RED. (Maybe I've just grown-up and am no longer a boy racer!)

Hi Tim.

I suppose it does depend somewhat on who installs the body kit as to the finish. I spent a lot of time and money having my strosek kit fitted to my Zed. The end result was so good in my opinion that its looks like it was driven out of the factory that way!!. I do agree that some kits do not fit quite correctly, mine was far from perfect. But with a good installation ( and blending into the bodywork in my case ) you can end up with a kit that makes the car stand out from the rest!. I looked at all sorts of kits and this was the only one for me that retained the nice smooth lines of the car. If I bought another Zed I think I would still install one of these kits before anything else was done. With bodykits I suppose everyones taste varies, be a boring world if it didn't!!

BTW my Zed has developed no cracks yet, touch fibreglass!

It is a modified Supra wing. The Guy who did it is called Joe and can be found at Kikis Garage Master Repairs or on the other end of 0207 (0171) 2818018
