Rad issue

Hello all

Driving down to get my brake pads and disks done today when I noticed steam coming from under the bonnet. When I opened the hood there was steam and water coming from under a foam seal from the top left side of the radiator.

Im not too bad when it comes to basics but not sure if it's the radiator that is knackered or cracked or something.

Didn't look like it was coming from any pipes. The steam was coming the left of the rad as you face the car from behind a foam seal which runs along the rad.

Hi,

well that sounds bad... it may have been a good idea to take a pic (on your phone) and then post it up.

I'd say time to replace the rad..

lots of places do pressure tests on rads and can confirm the problem.

if you have a manual then this is a good deal... (dealers section on the forum)

or you could put in the want adds but second hand rads aren't the best idea (although maybe cheaper).

Bleed valve is on top but there is a foam edge along the top of the rad but sounds like the leak is coming from the seam of the rad its self

Thanks for the replies guys will have a better look at it when I get the car back. Also tried to get the disks and pads done all round and the garage could only do the rear ones as they say that they have tried 3 different disks on the front without getting any to fit it.

The non turbo discs are different to the TT ones as the calipers are also different, non turbo discs are available if they try harder or upgrade to TT calipers and then no problem.

If yours is a n/a and your rad does turn out to be duff, I've got a nearly new one available off my breaker.

Its already off and ready to go.
