Now im pretty sure about this but wanted to make certain.

I have someone interested in my manual conversion kit, they have a N/A my gearbox is a TT with all TT parts.

Am i right in thinking that the only issue comes from fitting a N/A gearbox to a TT and not TT gearbox to N/A.

thought it was something to do with the bell housing, i was pretty sure it was N/A manual to TT engine that was the issue.

Its the flywheel, the na flywheel is smaller, so the starter sits in closer, to be able to use a na box on a tt you have to space the starter. As long as you use the correct size flywheel for the correct bellhousing its fine. You would havr to use a tt clutch though obv. The other issue is that the speed sensor for the tt would leave the na speedo reading wrong, due to being set up for the na diff ratios.

ok how would you go about correcting the speedo reading? i thought with the speed sensor being in the gearbox, this wouldnt be an issue?

It's because of the different ratio in the diff

It's because of the different ratio in the diff

;) that's the one, same happens when people convert to an na rear end vods. I think, think you can adjust the speedo itself. Im sure someone will be able to clarify.

Ok, thought as much ill make sure the potential buyer is aware. do we know what way the speedo is effected? reading slower or faster? id imaging faster than what you are doing.

Would rather they know all the info rather than finding out later.

I thought that too Ian...... Doesn't the TT have a bigger bellhousing owing to the larger flywheel; as Mr Bolt says....?

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

the speedo unit on the gear box is slightly different due to the ratio out put of diff .. IE NA/TT but nothing that can not be sorted out on the speedo dial its self

regarding the bell housing TT is slightly larger to accommodate the larger flywheel and clutch place but yet again nothing to worry about as TT box/flywheel will work on NA all day long

only differs if you happen to use an NA box with TT flywheel

As long as they have a series 1 or series 2 car the speedo can be adjusted by changing resisters and adjusting a pot. When i fitted a tt manual conversion to my 95 na i ended up buying an adjustable speed converter box.

The other diference is the vacuum asist to the clutch pedal and the tt pedal being heavier than an na without the vacuum assist.

They can just T the brake vacuum line, however to do it properly they would want all the vacuum tanks and hose . Most important is that if they T the brake line, they fit a second non return valve so clutch booster failure doesnt kill the brakes
