Finally got round to getting my CBT last Friday. Got myself this to get used to being on the road and to gain some valuable time on two wheels before I do my Mod1 and Mod2.

It's a Yamaha YBR125 just like most CBT schools use. It'll do me for now :D

Any advice or tips from some of you experienced riders greatly appreciated :th:

Excellent starter bike mate!

I did my test two years ago, jumped in with a 2000 r6 for my first bike.

If your looking for a suggestion where to go next I can vouch for that year of r6.

They're decent money now too. :)

My basis for comparison so far is against a 2008 r6 which, whilst being a superior bike, I don't feel is as user friendly for a new rider :)

Just my opinion, as for your mod 1, when he says ride at my clip board, do it with the front wheel, not the light as I did on my first try...... (if I'm following with my light, surely that's attached to my wheel.....? :D )

Just take your time and get used to riding, and always think "that car is going to pull out ", coz they generally do !!!

Meet up and talk to other bikers, I've been riding since 16 and have had loads of big bikes, z1000 ATM, but will always chat with new riders, we all started somewhere :)

Any questions then just ask mate

Congrats, my boy is doing his CBT on sunday and I'm dreading it.

Be careful out on them roads :)

Dont ride in this crap weather. Get mod 1 and 2 done then jump straight on a 900 like i did :P

nice one I had a widow maker if you need to get any gear iv got some im selling as iv packed it in 1 pce scott leather buffalo jacket and pants alpine boots rxx3 barracuda helmet in chrome

Bikers are a great group, at Sherburn you get around 1000 riders out on a wednesday night in good weather, but the next thing you get is that you need more power, then more power, very adictive and your cheeks ache from smiling at one end and car drivers at the other, enjoy and have some good safe fun.

Hey daffy nice bike, i have had my license for 2 years now and have not long owned my SV650 and its bags of fun and sounds the part too! its no 900/1000 of course but for now it 'would' be good fun if this weather would go somewhere else!

The new license system is very, thorough now which i think is mainly aimed to deter young riders as there is an obscene amount of tests to take,

Anyway good luck and have fun!

Ride an FS1E with Lplates for a year at 16 then take your test at 17 on a RD250 then go and buy a GS1000 and fit a full Yoshi kit 2 weeks later like i did...mind it was 35 years ago:biggrin:

Here is what you want Daffy ;)
