So today i went out to do some work on my zed with the idea being i wanted the rad out along with the air box as mines broke and a few other bits and bobs, Air box was out within a few mins but the rad took me a fair while since all the screws on the jub clips were worn down and man it was hard work any way 2 hours and 7 stitches later the rad is out and its just rotten so i need a new one which leads me onto my next question

How do i remove the viscous fan as i cant get any wrench in there wich sucks lol and once thats out of the way does anyone have any really good advice regarding changing the water pump and thermostat. I would like some real in depth help if possible as this engine bay is fighting me all the way i wanna try make it abit easier. I can see the water pump i think if its behind the viscous fan and the pully thats there if im right. Also i couldent seem to locate the tensioner for the alt belt to tighten it again any pics of something would be helpfull.

Anyways so im now missing the tip of my index finger thanks to my new love and have 7 stitches holding it back on but no pain no gain i suppose.

the viscous should come off from the rear quite easy with a quarter drive socket set, get the fan off first just to make life easier theres a few 10mm bolts that hold it on on the front face. the water pump and thermostat arnt too bad, certainly once the fans out the way and you've you've removed the front water pipes, the thermostat is behind the lower one. You need a pair of longnose pliers to undo the clips that hold the top one on, and certainly a set of attachments to use your socket for allen bolts. In advance get the top hat pieces that are behind the top water pipe (they rot out) and the two short pieces of pipe that the front pipe plugs into, they split, nows the time. have a chat with mjp and order your parts he will sort you out with all the right parts. IF you search, 300zx online manual in google you will find the service manual online, it will give you exploded views torque setting etc etc etc.

seems i need a puller tool wich i dont have agh the joys is there any other way of getting that pully off other then with a puller tool or am i screwed untill i can get one

Take the nut out if its solid I ten to knock it with a hammer each side till it loosens up as if your wiggling it side to side with your hands, this has always worked for me on every car, just be careful not to chip the pulley as you hit it
