Firewalls don't usually stop viruses, although they can (if properly configured) sometimes help prevent you from infecting someone else. Get yourself some decent anti-virus software and update it regularly (like everyday). Also don't open ANYTHING you dont recognise and treat all attachments with suspicion. However, even that won't protect you from some of the scripted ones like the recent Bugbear.

I find Mcafee Antivirus does the trick for me - used it for years. Regarding Firewalls, unless it is a dedicated firewall like smoothwall (using an old PC see http://www.smoothwall.org) then I would not puch too much faith in these software firewalls that sit on your PC!

i can send you sophos. works for me.

Oh I would be happy to visit the people sending the virus, I hace £4k worth of reasons to persuade them that they might want to find something better to do with their time

You may have had this Bugbear Virus.

Do a search for stuff to get rid of it.
