Which octane boosters have you chappies tried and do they make a noticeable difference?

I've seen a few different brands but a lot of them have other fuel system cleaners and lubricants which I don't know if I should be feeding to my toy.

I don't intend using all the time but next time I'm out for a days thrash I fancy a try.

Not only that, where do you buy this stuff and how much does it cost???

When we used to do Battle of The Twins racing (with Ducati's etc.) we either used 10% toluene or Avgas.

Unsurprisingly, Avgas is usually significantly cheaper than normal juice.

Also, toluene isn't too pleasant as it's supposed to be carcinogenic.

THE BEST ONE IVE HEARD OF IS CALLED ALDONS FROM ALDON AUTOMOTIVE IN THE WEST COUNTRY - 1 BOTTLE IS ABOUT £6. THEY SAY USE 1 BOTTLE PER TANK, BUT MOST PEOPLE USE 1 BOTTLE PER MONTH AND HAS AN OCTANE RATING OF 118. THIS IS BLOODY GOOD STUFF FOR TURBO'D CARS.

So can you use this stuff for normal, everyday drive to work and back...take wifey to Tesco...pick kiddies up from school etc. type of driving?

How frequently can you use it? What are the longterm penalties for keep using?

I'm well curious about this stuff, the 200 boys were raving about octane booster on Monday!

Avgas is available at any airfield - you just have to convince them to sell it to you. I believe it's about 110 octane.

AVGAS CONTAINS LEAD....and will kill your cats

It's VERY difficult to find unleaded AVGAS.

Good luck !!

As to find octane booster, Bardhal makes a pretty decent one....

Of course, you can ALWAYS get some over the internet

Zee you

I use Millers octane booster in my Supra TT (one bottle per 50litres is safe for cats, adds aprox 2ron, but you can use two if cats removed). I get it from a member of the Supra club at 255 per bottle (for 50 bottle free delivery), usual price is over 3 quid a bottle. I have found the engine is smoother when using SUL + Octane booster.
