I had a very surreal day yesterday.

I missed a call from my father in law at 11:30and he left a voicemail. It said he had been to a function at No 10 the previous night and left his mobiles there and could I go and collect them for him. I called him back to make sure I had heard right and I had !

30 minutes later I arrive at Downing St and explain to the police that I have come to collect some phones and they point me to a pedestrian entrance at the side. Explain to the policeman there and he checks with the events team and confirm I am allowed in. He tells me to go through the security check and then on to No 10! I was expecting them to be at the gate or to be told to go round the back or something, but no. I actually had to go up to the door of No 10 and knock on the door. I was then invited in where someone was waiting with the phones. I tried to take a photo inside but there was a group in there for a reception, so I took one outside (Just to prove to work where I had gone).

I know its daft but felt amazing to walk through a doorway I had seen on TV so much but thought I would never get to see, never mind go through.

I joked about it at work and my father in law warned me not to call anyone a pleb!. Had a good chat with the policeman at the gate. They were all very polite and joking, even though it had been raining all morning and they were soaked.

great story:cool3:...what does your father-in-law do to get the invite
