  • We did a video earlier this week, the Z hasn't been out the garage since July 2020. So happy for this, this is miles away from professional video, and the guy who helped me with the drone and editing,

Today nothing, but I did take the Zed out for a little drive the other day - and stopped for a couple of pics. Any excuse 😉

Dutch, if you're still leaking I'd suggest trying this..

Where your boot windscreen meets the corners at the rear of the boot lid, get some food colouring and just put a tiny drop in the rear left corner where the water usually sits.

Before you do this, take the plastic cover off the underside and tape a little kitchen roll to the underside of the glass seal in the bootlid at that corner. Leave the plastic trim off and then close the boot and put a drop of food colouring right in the corner of the glass and then add a tablespoon of water to it so it pools there. Leave it for the day and then check the paper towel later or the following morning.

I've got a funny feeling that you'll find the colouring on the paper towel.

I'm fairly sure that my leak is in the same place.

Water seeping in around the rubbers in the screen corners.

If nothing else, it'll confirm if you've got a boot screen seal problem or not..

Worth a try?

I'm thinking of trying to reseal mine with a hoover and some silicone. Put the silicone on the underside in the corner and then hoover it on the topside to suck the sealant in to the gap.

I've used this repair process before on an old Renault and it worked surprisingly well.

I was thinking of trying that, but never thought of the food colouring - nice idea. Hoping it's not the issue though.

Well engine now out and gone will put the gearbox on the othere engine before it goes in the car 1st paint the engine bay on the next days off got too get a few hrs sleep as im at work tonight

Just be careful with where you put the colouring and only use a tiny amount otherwise you may get stains on your paint.

You could put a tiny drip on all places you suspect for leaks. Each place use a different colour and then you'll know exactly where it's coming in from.

It's a technique used in a lot of leak detections. They put dyes in water systems and hydraulics etc as it makes leaks far easier to detect.

Like I said though, only use a tiny amount and be careful not to get it on your paintwork.. We don't want you ending up with a rainbow bootlid lol

I for one want to see this

If it's worse case scenario, you'll be looking at a boot glass refit by a screen company. However the hoover and silicone job is pretty effective.

Just put a silicone funnel on the end of your hoovers hose end attachment and squeeze a little silicone in to the area indicated by the water mark left by the food colouring, then from the outside of the boot, place the silicone funnel over the area in the corner of the boot and switch the hoover on for a few seconds at a time until you see the silicone appearing through the seal. Wipe off the excess and allow to dry..

Simplezz!!

In true blue Peter tradition.. Here's one I made earlier! DSC_0153.jpg

Silicone funnel available on ebay for £1.99

Up at uni atm. But got a message from back home saying the Input Shaft Bearing needs replacing.. Joy

Quick Q, Where do the vac lines that come off the intakes go on a stock engine, its thoroughly annoying having a vac line over the top of the engine.

Went with a friend not so long ago :)

Yes it looks very Fast and Furious Ending lol

Went to a little mini meet at a garage called TDI north in Warrington, they specialise in Honda's mainly but some nice cars turned up... Didn't take any photos though!! (doh!)

There was a very nice GTR along with a Honda powered Lotus Elise track car.... It looked insane!!

It was a very nice drive with the targas off tonight though :)

Finally got the car back on the floor after the fronts been on the stands for the last fortnight, life. Fired her up and spun round the block to warm her up and free those moving parts.

Got to adjust the handbrake.

Booked the MOT as it runs out this week. :sweatdrop:

Ordered 3L of Fusches Titan 75w90 for the gear box. The garage will switch this in while its up in the air for a few quid, I hate getting all four wheels off the floor and basically couldn't be arsed to do that myself.

After months of searching for a plan.. I've found one..

My car is due for a respray/restoration spray in the next 2 weeks! Going to a Bright Metallic White with black T Bars and the black pinstripe along the lower of the car..

This will definitely be done in time for Simply Japanese! And if everything goes well, i may be able to get to the coventry meet but the body shop needs it for about a month for them to strip, fix&prep, spray then put it back together with some new trims and other little bits.

Excited!

Sounds good, I'm going to do an extreme white with no flake and some black highlights. but yours should look great, see you there!

I will attempt to paint mine after Simply, but there are no guarantees it will come out any good lol.

What about your input bearing?

I don't want my white to look too flat so aiming to have some flakes for offset.

Paints all in the prep.. So I've heard anyway.

And I've been in tough with JeffTT as he did a transmission swap from Auto to manual on my Z for the previous owner and has asked Jimmer for details on my behalf so I can get some more info as its only done 3k miles on the manual gearbox since install.

But for now, a transmission fluid swap with some molyslip to be done :)

I can see your point of view about flat white, which is why I am going to break it up with black bits. Not to everyone's tastes but IMO looks very stylish.

Who knows, I may experiment with a black spoiler, but Si will probably shout at me

Also think that's looks good, different too. I want mine to look unique but stay classy. Can't really think of anything..

Ooooh! Look what arrived today!

The dog arrived in a different package, but thought he looked good in the photo.. Quite literally shouting "the dogs danglys" lol

Where did you buy these from Paul?

Where did you buy these from Paul?

Well, one of those things came attached to the dog when I got him and just got bigger over time lol..

The other things I got from a guy on the Facebook Z32 market place.

The basic set which covers most visible parts, which is the set I bought, was £100 + postage. Fairly good price for a kit.

You can source them individually slightly cheaper but when you add it up and the time spent to source them, I felt it wasn't worth the bother of sourcing them individually.

If you want some mate, I can have a word and get you a price.

He has a few different colours.. I think I've got a screenshot of the advert here somewhere.. I'll post it up when I find it Alic

I think I saw that actually, I would probably go for white. For the moment though I have more important things to spend my money on ;)

Thanks
