iv seen one no bh mec-r2122371011u00b2709 out of a 280zx $250.00 for sale it says 3inch exhaust aftermarket airfilter speedlimiter cut fuil map ignition timing optimized performance and throttle response its the dogs

i've seen the same reports on several google threads about its performance but not yet anything uk based so not sure if i should risk it in my slicktop

I've had a C20 ECU before.

On the C20 map I have before my very eyes right now:

11050rpm limit. Timing mapped up to 7500rpm, fueling up to the standard 6400rpm. Both fueling & timing only mapped to STOCK load (boost) levels. For fueling this is 88, timing 96 (these are arbitrary values). Just the same as the JWT maps, well over a decade old and created when hardware consisted of EPROM emulators and/or burners and software was archaic. Kind of obsolete now.

Timing is way too advanced for anything less than 105RON. Its 6°-7° more advanced than the stock JDM map at heavy load. This equates to 24°-27° at full load. That's race fuel territory...

Fuel map is terrible, same as stock until medium to heavy load, then just dumps in a load more fuel. This is a bodge way of having suitable fueling past the load point of 88 off the end of the map, so to speak.

AIV flags disabled. Fuel increase rate 94%. Safety RPM limit same as stock 4400rpm. Speed limit disabled, fuel cut disabled.

It's a typical old school JDM overly-advanced map. I personally wouldn't use one.

you could send it to Noz or Jeff to plug in and read the map

theres a company local who should be able to give it a look over

Years of mapping Nissans for ya :D

There is no guarantee that the map in this ECU is the same one as I first analysed years ago, you need to check each specific chip to be able to say 100% how it is programmed.

Then throw it away and get it remapped and set up properly :smartass:

i've being reading all over internet and all i'm getting is good reports on this setup, in america they are like gold dust so a zed man in the states is telling me and australia they are popular2. so i cant understand how a setup from a top japanese tech firm 10 years ago can be at that much at fault 2day.

Quite simple really. If the chip in that ECU is the same as the chip I analysed from another SPL Central 20 ECU, it isn't suitable for cars over here.

I've laid out actual real data in the previous post, entirely up to you whether or not to heed it or listen to others. Best solution: Have that specific chip analysed yourself :)

Oh, I think I bought a C20 ECU years ago for about £40. I've had them for the RB20 as well.

Do you want a car with 11050 RPM limit and too much timing for UK fuels? If so, I've still got the map

Trust me, no one would use the C20 map I've got in the US without race fuel. Well, not for very long at any rate.

How much can you get race fuel for?

In all fairness, you don't even know what map is in the ECU. Just because it has a sticker on the front, you don't know what the chip contains. Have it analysed and then you'll have all the info you'll need.

haha like the hint of sarcasm, not my fault i'm not a sparky, i think it will most probaly need to go on a rolling road to be checked properly and having phoned about today there is no one in the area with a dyno so i think i'l let someone else have the problem otherwise its going to turn into an expensive job

Are you aware that noz is our forum trader for this kind of thing? Post him the ecu and he will tell you whether it's safe or not :)

There was no sarcasm at all, you asked a question which I am able to answer and I gave as much info as possible :)

Ohh the same ECU as mine :) .
