K guys so i changed the spark plugs today was easy and no problems there so decided to take a good look at the car for the first time since ive not been able to since buying her -

When i start her up there is like a buzzing noise comming from the back of the car not quite sure what it is but sounds electrical

There is water comming out of the exhaust when given some throttle and some white smoke the water does seem a little dark like there is oil in it but it could also just be from the dirst inside the exhaust system as it dont look like oil or smell like it.

I thought the water pump was on its way out but i think its the electrical fan that was squeking and making noise as if i hold it the noise goes away - I left her for 20 mins and she barley got up to temp undid the rad top and there is water but its not nice lol looks like it come from a seweage plant or something no oil in there just horrid now ive not seen her overheat i did try and coax it today but after 20 mins the temo had hardly moved but the guy i brought it from said it would overheat madly after 5 mins of running but thats not happening now so i am at a loss as to why it would over heat as the pump and belts look in good nick... Any advice

P.S

whoever owned this before me was a **** the car is missing bolts every were the airfilter cover is held on with tape and screw mounts snapped off, some people make me laugh they really do.

Well i never went she asked the guy you know the ones that are supposed to help and he looked it up on the computer and said the ones she got were right - turns out there not i dont go shopping cant stand it rather stay at home and look after my son

Probably assumed it was a 200sx, people are real bodge it barriers arn't they. The buzzing from the back is probably the fuel pump, and the belts and viscous fan can be squeaky if not quite right. The electric fan shouldn't run unless the air con is on or you overheating.

also anyone selling or know were to get the air filters for the car as guess what the one from halfords is wrong good job ive got a week off work as ive got alot to out right

regarding the buzzing from the fuel pump is that a good indication it needs changing?

Also can someone advise me on the most common reasons for over heating then, i know the water pump is one but what else could it be i wanna cover all angles.

the one on the front should never kick in unless you have over heating problems. I have removed this fan on my. If you car is over heating you might have a cloged radiator

  • Author

this is what mi thinking i brought some of that rad flush stuff gonna run it through the system tommorow and see what comes up - and the front fan is dmged from someone not taking care of the car when removing bits and one of the fans are broken so i wanna replace just in case

Hi Mark, I have some K&N filters which are in good used condition cleaned and oiled ready to go looking for £30.00 posted.

Where in London are you, lived in Woolwich when I younger.

Paul

A few things can cause your car to over heat.

thermostat failing and not opening enough, this will not allow the correct amount of water through

Block radiator

Air leak on one of the water pipes (wouldnt be big enough to cause a leak, just suck air into the system creating a airlock)

Failed water pump.

also get a block tester make sure the last owner didnt blow the HG, he may not have blown it so its noticeable, but just enough to cause exhaust gases to enter the coolant.

My first port of call would be a block tester from ebay, get the car upto temp and check to see if the water changes, also as they are so cheap, replace the two water temp sensors on the top water pipe, make sure your sensor isnt fubared, could be reading the temp wrong.

now you`re an offical owner!

think it also kicks in if one of the temp sensors is dodgy. First thing i would change would be both sensors on the water pipes for new and the fuel temp sensor on the fuel rail as any of these going wrong or getting naff signals due to connections will cause all sorts of running issues.

oh hell yes your not in the club till your clubs made you bleed.

I suspect every damn connection on that cars engine bay is going to be corroded if its been sat outside for a few years without running.
