Just a quick question,

http://www.300zx.org.uk/model_variations.htm

This link... i don't know whether it's my lousy work computers with minimal flash or what have you, but a lot of the pictures aren't showing up.

Is this an issue with the computer, do the pictures not exist or does the lack of picture mean that it is continuing from the previous - for example,

SERIES I has no central locking & states "none".

SERIES II has no picture or statement (MEANING THAT IT HAS NO CENTRAL LOCKING)

SERIES III has a picture of a central locking key (MEANING IT HAS C/L)

etcetcetc.

SERIES I has a black speedo

SERIES II-V have no pictures - DOES THIS MEAN THEY HAVE A BLACK SPEEDO?

SERIES VI has a white speedo

etc

Obviously some of you know i'm planning on buying a zed in the next year or so & i'm just trying to work out which model year i'd prefer if i had the option.

Cheers. :detective:

On A serious note don't worry to much about that, just make sure it's got a good engine and ain't rotten

Go for the '99 version :-D

That's ideally what i'm aiming for at the minute.

But finding them is quite a challenge. Only seen a '98 one in good condition.

But again, i've not been looking thoroughly for very long.

And i do agree though, good condition etc over spec.

(Has to be tt though!)

Series IV shows and is correct no boost gauge in the clocks, one can be put in yourself and for way less than £100.00.

All black clock faces right through until the facelift model which was not black (see below, haha) :cool3:.

Roobarb put me straight !!

99 spec's are pale gold

I don't mean just those specific ones, they are just examples of where there is no picture or explanation to what the specific spec has.

So I'm wondering if there are no pictures/descriptions of the change whether it is just the same as the previous spec.

As I've said, there's nothing showing up on my computer for about 50% of the pictures so I'm wondering if they're just to be continued from the previous spec.

If you get what I mean?

If you get what I mean?

I do and yes pretty much you are correct but someone as translated it from Japanese and so is not 100% accurate, perhaps Wikipedia might be best for something similar :cool3:.

If you're going to be in the market for a zed in the future I'd touch base with Marty (Gonzo12c) and discuss his black shorty TT that he's working on at the moment, as by the sounds of it it'll be a very tidy example with pretty high spec.

Ooo sounds good. Do you know an ETA so I'm not pestering him if its gonna be completed in like 2-3 months, I'm probably looking at Christmas if I'm being realistic

Mine will probably go up for sale one summertime once the retrim is complete. I will be holding out for the right buyer as as I know money seems to be tight for most so I am prepared to wait. There is still a few things I have to do but when I am done it will be some of my finest work. Engine as already been out and all cleaned up and parts deleted. Will most likely have the box off too for clutch change, one piece prop and NA subframe. A few body parts to change as well and then I will be happy that it is in top condition to sell :)

Is this the one that's in your garage? Looks nice and sounds well kitted out too!

Still haven't decided if i'd have an auto or not - never drove one like - is there much of a noticeable difference between the auto tt & manual tt?

I know standard to manual comes with 300bhp & the auto comes with 280bhp, but obviously i've never driven either.

I need to get reading up on mods & stuff as well though, kind of jargon to me!

At the minute I have a standard astra coupe so i'm new to the mod market as well haha.

  • Author

Meaning i've never driven an automatic car before.

But i haven't driven - or even sat in - a zed before

Yes that's the one I will be selling in my garage. Spec list is kinda up to date but getting her back in the garage soon for more changes.

I guess manual or auto really depends what you want from your sports car. They will both go fast. I would never get an auto sports car as I would want to do track work and fast road so an auto doesn't know what the road looks like so would be changing gear at the wrong time when I would hold out a little longer for say the next bend.

  • Author

Yeah fair enough, at the minute i don't intend to do many track days or anything. That could change though!

But I would have a bash on a straight!

Mainly what I want is quick acceleration at the lights, so a manual is the preferred option, but an auto will still be quicker than the majority of vehicles on the road I imagine. I do love putting the boy racers to shame, even my Astra is good at that, so a zed would be so much more satisfying.

Don't rule out the auto as they have a power button which will hold the lower gear a lot longer before a change up.

strange comment isn't your slickly being converted from manual to auto???

both have their merit, when mine was auto it was a more friendly car, easier round town and had the ability to be very relaxing, and still have the rapid pull through the gear, with you merely holding on, until the box died. as a manual though it kicks down instantly because you do it manually lol, it holds the years far better and you can engine brake properly, and it turns the car into a far more involved and fun drive.

Yes but that is a totally different circumstance and not something I want to go into

The missing images are just arrows/pointers, eg indicating same as the previous image as far as I can tell. I should fix it really (one day) but I didn't think anyone looked at it any more.
