Ford Cortina Mk2 Savage estate immaculately presented For Sale (1970), White, for sale in Ripon, North Yorkshire, price on application.

This very rare Ford Cortina 1600 GT Estate was converted to 'Savage' specification by Jeff Uren Ltd for a Mr JL Rogers of Potters Bar, Hertfordshire and was the second to last Mk2 Savage estates built. Complete photo schedule available on our website There are many invoices that accompany this Cortina. The original invoice for the ‘savage’ conversion shows that extras were supplied and fitted. • Pair of Traveller reclining front seats with sub-frames and runners • Weathershields Sunway slimline folding roof • Rostyle wheels • Lucas quartz halogen headlamp conversion • Twin spot lights (Silver Sabre) with a two position switch • Matching wing mirror and static seat belts. This invoice nearly doubles the costs of this Cortina when new. In 2002, the engine, radiator and brakes received an overhaul. A new set of carpets were fitted and a pair of uprated shock absorbers were fitted in 2003. In January 2005 the car was purchased by an enthusiast and collector of Savage Cortinas, during the current ownership, a fully comprehensive restoration has been carried out, costing approximately £45,000.00 and included numerous upgrades that were available in period from Jeff Uren Ltd. The car has been repainted to the correct specification white, with hand-painted coachline pin-stripes in red. Other items that have been renewed, include all new exact and correct reproduction badges, a pair of uprated rear leaf springs and vented front brake discs. Contour 6 seats and rear seats in leather have now been fitted. Interestingly, an original, but never used Sunway roof has been fitted, to replace the identical original roof. A genuine period and fully functioning Ford radio unit has been sourced and fitted. During the restoration, the engine was sent to Oselli for a full rebuild to 60" oversize and upgrade to Oselli '230' specification of 3.1 litres with a DFI5 single carburettor. Swaymar exhaust manifolds with a Chris Tullett bespoke stainless steel exhaust system have been fitted. A rebuilt Mark 1 Capri gearbox has been installed with a 3.09 ratio Capri limited slip differential. In July 2010, further minor works were carried out, including an oil and filter change and fitment of a new clutch master cylinder. Since then the front suspension has been fully overhauled and the overdrive unit re-conditioned. This Cortina comes complete with a great history file with letters dating back to when it was new A very rare opportunity to acquire such a car Currently undergoing our usual pre-sale preparation Viewing is highly recommended and will bring no disappointment.

Mate of mine had one back in early 80's, plan was to go to British GP in 83, but kept overheating every few miles, bailed out at farnborough and jumped into his mates 2000e which got us there in the end.

Great looking motor with good turn of speed, his was black and very low, but he moved it on as it was plagued with problems. Don't see them in the mags very often now.

Love classic Fords, still got my little mk2 Fez and always draws a crowd if I take it to work and park it on the forecourt amongst the nearly new stuff

I LOVE muscle! since I was about 15 ive always wanted a 77 trans am, my farther in law had a 78 up until about 2 years ago. used to start it up each sunday in the summer and drive a few miles, he sold it because he just wasn't using it enough. Real shame beautifull cars engines sound awesome, and theres a historic feel to it the way the leafs creak and sway, not the fastest or best handling thing in the world but yeah character, im only allowed/can afford one toy car atm and the zed is staying, lets hope I start earning some monies lol.

Rare old bird that, most were saloons,in its day that was considered a beast.A company also made a Mk1 escort V6 in limited numbers.Car looks very well presented,Fast Fords always hold there money and never seem to lose value.Owner will be buying an investment for sure.

LOL - I hate the Morris Minor with a vengance... Hateful little shite boxes; although back in my youth in the 1980s, a mate had a Moggie and dropped a 3.5 Rover V8 into it. He kept it relatively stock looking otherwise, save for Wolfrace wheels and shiney red paintwork. Damn thing sounded good and left many an XR3i for dead....

But when I visit classic car shows nowadays, I fail to appreciate the interest in the Minor, the Allegro and any other bog-standard Leyland crap from the '60s to the '80s (except the Jags and some Triumphs; they still looked good despite being ruined by BL's "work" ethic). However the old school Fast Fords have a sense of retro-cool now; I'd happily buy a Cortina 2000e or a Capri or a Mk1 or Mk2 Escort RS2000. And considering the prices some of them fetch, they have clearly become desireable today!

Richard:cool3:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
