I'm going to view a UK ZX TT (1991). The seller says that the speedo needle vibrates. Is this indicitive of anything serious or is it purely cosmetic? He also says that the LCD goes blank every so often???

Many thanks

could be a dodgy speed sensor, could be sure though

im presuming when he says the LCD screen he means the clock display? If so then its a common problem and there is a fix or 2 for it on http://www.300zx.org.uk

HTH

Could be the speedo going faulty but may not get any worse.

Which LCD does he mean? There is no LCD so he must mean either the clock in the centre console of the air-con control panel.

Either would be fairly cheap to replace with 2nd hand stuff off someone on here.

Don't even think of asking Nissan!

If it's the speed sensor then the car will not run correctly.

Take it for a test drive for at least 15 mins as the ECU seems to take time to decide the speed sensor is faulty and will start doing funny things after about 10 mins if thats the case.

Sounds more like the speedo dial is starting to fail. I had that trouble about a year ago.

Many thanks guys.

I'll let you how I get on.

Saw the car today. Mechanically it was fine. However the seller hadn't even bothered to clean it. Some of the bodywork that was visible down one side looked as though it had been polished with a brillo pad??? However, the other side looked fine. Definitely something not quite right there.

So the search continues......

Well done for not buying the first one you saw.

I was lucky with mine but have heard all sorts of horror stories and had a few problems since buying mine and I was REALLY lucky I got a good one.
