Hi guys

Over the winter my Zed has had a rushing water/sloshing sound coming from somewhere behind me when cornering. When I had the MOT the tester said he thought there was water in the sills which is making the noise. Made sense to me, I've had a leak from my targas, and as far as I am aware the targa drain pipes go down and out through the sills.

I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the matter, and if anyone could advise me on how to check for water down there?

Cheers

John

1st thing is take the targas off and pour water down the drain holes and you should see it coming out under the sill, if you don't then it's blocked or partly blocked.

The exit tube has a habit of snapping off so highly likely water is only going as far as inside the sills.

If that's the case and it were me, i'd park the car on a slope, drill a hole in the sill at the back end, let water out and fix the drain tube.

Good thoughts guys. As far as I am aware the pipes run pretty freely. When I noticed the targas leaking I checked the drains and they run through. I'm kinda thinking there could be a split in the pipes and water can run along the outside of them, if you know what i mean.

Hopefully it won't be too rusty, when I was under the car a couple of months back it was spotless, but I will have to wait and see.

I don't suppose the sloshing sound could be anything else? Water in the sills makes the most sense, but is there anything else I should check too?

And take your boot panels out to check the rear bumper sill. If water gets in via the lights can tend to collect down there as well as the spare tyre well.
