after spending most of the weekend working on it, i booked my new zed to be MOt'd today,

really didn't expect it to pass, and given the mechanics tried really hard to fail it, but

it PASSSED

got a few advisories, need some new tie bars at the front, and some new brake lines at some point.

just need to tax it and can take it for a drive. cant wait.

they have given it a nickname though, "leviathan" because its green covered in snow and it moved across our frozen car park with all the grace of a mating elephant.... apparently, i thought it looked great. :tt2:

Great news mate...

Gaz, loving the new sig pic mate, needs to be centred tho'..lol

just as a heads up, the brake lines are a big job on these.. especially with the abs unit underneath getting in the way of everything. had all of mine replaced, £440 inc labour and braids to replace the flexis. if you're not doing it yourself, which unless you have a nice 2 poster to jack it up, get saving up ;)

congrats on the pass though fella, just remember the lines will only get worse yea :)

ABS is in the boot mate, won't get in your way when changing the lines. It's the rear subframe that gets in the way. It can be done with the car on axle stands, but as you say it's not a job you take lightly.

Mine had a brake line advisory but it only meant the bit between the calliper and the flexi... £40ish quid a corner or DIY

....and yes, it is a pretty big job. However, if you only have an advisory, why not buy yourself some time...... If you can get to the rear brake pipes, then a quick rub down with some emery cloth and a coat of Hammerite or underseal might make then last (or go un-noticed) for another couple of years!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Good advice Rich :thumbup1:

u know what i mean steams! thankfully, had the guys fit a couple of extra unions so the sub frame doesnt have to be jiggled again if i need to replace any sections.

Shouldn't have to worry about that for another 20 years mate.

Did mine on axle stands in the garage, after about three days of wrestling on my own to get the sub frame out, replacing the brake lines was not to bad. Such a relief once it was done mind.

cheers for the advise guys, mines a non abs model anyway lol, so no abs unit anywhere....

i can use the ramps at work to change them so should make life a bit easier. will be giving the the hammerite treatment on a short term anyway

given it took 2 solid days for my mates at the body shop to fix the rust problem im relived, can get on with my black ones engine again now.

Don't use Hamerite use grease on brake pipes lightly wire brush them then lithium grease them if there undersealed or covered over the mot man may fail
