OK ever since owning my Z which is 11 Years now I have never changed the front shock absorbers! They now really bloody need doing as I don't think they have been changed in the life of the car and it's getting to be a bit like driving a bouncy castle!!

I don't need anything flash but something just a little better than stock standard that is going cheap!! I've found these 2 and wondering which would be best to go for... Of course if you know of any others going for around these prices then please send me the link!! Thanks guys!!

Hi John,

If you are only replacing the fronts - then OEM is the way to go assuming your car is standard. Personally I would not have mis-matched shocks from front to rear as the different dampening ratings would upset the handling of the car.

If you're going to replace all 4, then I'd go with the Tokicos from MJP - Mike knows his stuff and would not sell anything unsuited to the 300zx. Although at over £430 - and bear in mind you need to consider the condition of your springs as they too are most likely past their best - it's not going to be much more expensive to upgrade the lot to Meister Rs!!

But for a cheaper fix - it has to be OEM; again give Mike at MJP a call..... As a comparison, JeffTT charges around £400 plus VAT to supply and fit the stock fronts....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Hi Rich and thanks for your reply! No my Z is not standard apart from the shocks! I had the OEM rears done last year so at least the backend is nice and tight along with the Driftworks HICAS elimination kit! So only need the fronts but had a look on Z centre website and there is only a tenner difference between a pair of standard front shocks from Luke and then he wants shipping prices on top and the bilstiens which are free delivery!! Springs we're done about 5 years ago... As you say i'll prob give Mike at MJP a call in the week.

You're welcome John - and now I know about the rest of your suspension work, I'd definitely buy the Nissan ones from MJP. Zcentre is good; but expensive, Mike's always the best bet for anything OEM!!

If you want uprated I have a set of KYB AGX adjustable with eibach springs for sale. Have a look in the for sale section for all the details. These have only done about 1500 miles in total but have been on the car for 3 years. The car just hasn't been on the road much! £230 delivered.

BAZZ! I'm quiet interested in these! Does it lower the car by much as I have a silly front bumper on mine with standard suspension that can just make it over speed humps!! Admitadly my fronts are worn out so looking at old photo's of my Z when I first had it, the gap between the 18" wheels and arch as dropped over the years!!!

It lowers the ride by 20mm so not too much and keeps the ride quality very good. Drop me an email baz_michael@ hotmail.com if you want.

Make sure you don't put a space between the @ and hotmail as I haven't got your email!

I had a set of these ^^^^^ on my first LWB TT, they were very good for road use and to be honest you really couldn't go wrong for that price mate

The KYB AGX with Eibachs is a great road setup if your not looking to go the full adjustable coilover setup, and thats a good price !
