Dave Naxton is offering a special group purchase price, and has this to say:

Hi Noel - It would be great to have the 300ZX club on board.

I believe Bobgenie is looking to compete again. I doubt very much my Zed will be as quick over the 1/4 as my MR2, but it's a highly-strung beast so it may pop at an inopportune moment. I didn't enter last year as part of a club (I was running the only Pulsar there!), and I haven't heard anything about an IMOC presence there this year, so I'll be more than glad to help with any organising if required :)

For those that haven't been before, it's a great day out! Even better if you come for the weekend.... Plus, those without a £100k to plough into their motors need all hands on deck when the inevitable happens

RWYB events this weekend:

Santa Pod:

Saturday 20th April: RWYB (All cars & bikes)

Sunday 21st April: Central Ford RS Owners Club Day (All cars)

Shakespeare County Raceway:

Saturday 20th April: RWYB Public Track Day (All cars & bikes)

Sunday 21st April: RWYB Public Track Day inc. Zed Club Drag Challenge 2013 Season Opener

I will be at Santa Pod on Saturday & Shakespeare on the Sunday. I hope to see some Z32 action....

We need to get a list of entrants up & running!

1. Bobgenie (11.96s @ 125.92mph)

2. Jaffa (555 bhp)

3. Silverline (420 bhp)

4. Keano (12.90s @ 110mph)

5. Slick Pete (?? @ ??mph)

6. Noz (12.74s @ 111.85mph)

Jimmer?

Markderby?

MAC 1?

Vodkashots?

Pit crew:

Cyberbean

111mattin111

Any other big power Zeds out there on the road or nearing completion?

I'll speak to Dave Naxton about official team entry & costs this week, but I need to know who's a definite and who's a maybe :)

This is a team effort 100%. It's not just the fastest that can go up the strip, but the quickest round the handling course, too.

Is 300zx.co.uk apparel for the event a possibility? If not, I'm supplying bright gold Turbonoz onesies. You have been warned.

I will definitely be going whether with my race car or road car is still not confirmed. I'm happy to be part of a one make team but I'd like to see some confirmation from others asap otherwise I will be joining the Eurospec team. Either way my car will be looked after by Eurospec as they will have a fair few entrants (probably). I'm more than happy to help and advise if it's wanted but the best advice I can give anyone right now is don't do both days! For two years I have mullered my car on the Saturday and not been at the races for the competition proper. I probably will be there for the Saturday but won't be running.

I still think it's one of the best days out there and a perfect event for the modified car driver/owner. I also seem to think that a 300ZX can do well overall and the more cars we have there will increase the chances.

This an opportunity to improve the cars' image as per another thread on here but the 'only' reason people should go is to have fun and enjoy putting their car through it's paces. However be warned. Trying to do well at TOTB is a car killer! Top speed runs, quarters, and the handling course are tough enough on their own but all three together is extremely hard on the car. I intend to pace myself this year and try to keep the car working for the whole event. As they say you can't win it if you ain't in it!

Oh I dunno Bob, my chocolate-gearboxed Pulsar GTiR made it through roughly 25 full-bore launches and 12 top speed runs over the weekend. Drove there with camping gear & tools in the back, then drove back. It is something to bear in mind if you're not transporting your car, though.

That's two of us that need to know ASAP the numbers going representing the club. I've told the organiser the Zeds will be there as a team and am just awaiting entry details :thumbup1:

Also, it works out as brilliant value, each entrant gets a ticket for a second vehicle and person.

Oh well there you go it's not that tough then. Maybe I should get a pulsar.

Yeah, they're great, 12.08@115, 1.79 60ft on 195s with one T28!

In seriousness though, it's just two different experiences for two different people :)

It is by far the most fun I've had trying to break a gearbox. Awesome weekend!

Yeah I'm in for sure. Will try and get remapped before then aswel. Sure with my engine spec there's more to be had. Can't wait now. Always dreamed of entering this.

Tell me how I can help and what I need to do etc.

Cheers.

Great stuff, it is as good as you'd expect :)

What's the spec of your engine/car? If you fancy coming down to Shakespeare or across to York for some 1/4 mile action, let me know.

Actually in fairness all my issues were easily repairable we simply didn't have the knowledge to work them out :( so far I've only managed 10 minutes seat time in the new car before binning it however it's almost back together and hopefully we won't have the same throttle issues next time out lol.

It's still a great weekend and here's hoping this years will be the best yet!

Teams can be 5 - 10 cars if I remember rightly and it would be ideal if we were a one make team of at least 5. Is that asking too much?

My god, just a few years ago 300zx,s were unheard of at Totb. Now there's potentially a team of 5 entering. Exciting times.

Basic engine spec:

T2871 turbos

555 injectors

89mm weisco pistons

Mike smith headers

Plus all suporting mods

Still on standard but chipped ecu and maf. Think it got 420 bhp before I got the actuator springs changed. It would only hold 14 psi. So could be special.

Want to get Japfest out of the way then I'll come over for some drag racing.

Thanks.

Danny

Twin GT2871Rs, 14 psi & only 420bhp? Your car has a huge amount of potential waiting to be unleashed

My car is going to be the lowest powered! Oh my goodness... That's not good.

You suck.

Boom Boom. I won't give up my day job

lol - I smiled anyway :)

Power isn't everything. You must have your technique dialled to be gettin the times you are . I'm now running 18psi but unknown power and haven't done a drag since. Should help with top end. Its that tight handling circuit were the Z,s will strugle I suspect.

Yeah, I've been drag racing for about 10 years now, and all my current cars are in the 12s, with the MR2 with the potential to be in the 10s if it holds together.

I've got an extra 40bhp & 60odd lbft since the 12.74s in the Zed, plus I should be able to add a little bit more power to that and will also run my semi slicks this weekend, and maybe space savers on the front (scary). If it all comes together, I would be disappointed with anything slower than 12.2s. Maybe, just maybe a 12.0-12.1 if I really nail the launch. But I doubt it...

In your opinion (when chasing tenths) how crucial a factor are air temps?

You know, I honestly can't answer that. I would have said, prior to last year, quite a bit, but I've set my fastest ever time in the Pulsar at TOTB when it was sweltering hot on the Sunday, half a second quicker than the Saturday, although I had been refining the map constantly. Without doing controlled back-to-back testing, it's hard to say.

If it's just intake temps of the charge as it hits the inlet manifold, then colder is definitely going to produce more power, but I couldn't describe the relationship between intake temps & trap time, too many factors (ECU type & tuning, engine efficiency etc) to take into account. Just hit the intercooler with a fire extinguisher and get some water/meth injection :D
