very nice ... think i would too

Isn't she purrrrty? I know they drink more oil than Oli Reed drank booze but my mechanic says they're great cars as long as they're regularly serviced.

Anyway, its on my watch list, so if it pops up on my phone when its due to end I could be tempted to bid

14mpg might as well get a Zed! Uses a lot of oil aswell.

Oh it'd just be for looking at lol!

within a week off having the fun of that you will be trying to sell it, they are thirsty as feck, you cant just switch off you have to rev at 4500 revs for 20sec if you don't you will flood the engine, there also is a start up procedure as well its a complete pain but if it hasn't been followed then your just buying the last persons problem, and engine norm have probs round the 45-60k, i had 1 couldn't give it away the market has dropped out on these. nice looking in and out.

lad sold his m3 and bought one of these as a cheaper to run car, cost more to run and service than a tuned e46 m3 lol

Yeah I'd heard about the start up and switch off shenanigans. I'm not serious about getting one really, the price won't stay that low for an 04 plate even if the market has dropped out on these. But they are really pretty cars. I do like Mazdas. If I was after a large family hatch I'd definitely go for one of the new Mazda 6s, they're lovely

But much prettier eh Al? ;)

DO NOT BUY ONE THEY ARE ****! my dad has one paid 10k for it a few years back tried to sell it last year before he emigrated, couldnt get 3k for it and its in great nick low miles fsh the works and its the proper 230 one. build quality is poor fuel consumption horrendous and handling is poor too. we did a rolling pull when i firsty got my zed from 50 and he literally went backwards. they flood at the drop of a hat and cause you a massive headache as he found out, basically if you start the engine you must run it till its warm if you drive 100 metres turn it off cold it wont start again because it will have flooded! they also suffer from vapours in teh crankcase which causes teh sump to rot from teh inside out.

its currently sat on my back forecourt until he decides what to do! i started it up the other week, after it flooded twice on me because the battery wasnt fully charged! doh! basically it flooded becaus ethere wasnt enough umph to start it, so i cleaned the plugs and tried again it started but ran rough so i touched(literally touched) the accelerator and it flooded again! had to go through the whole process again. which involves cranking the engine over with the fuel fuse in, and if that doesnt work, involves pulling the plugs and burning off the fuel, btw the plugs are located behind the passengerside wheel behind the suspension components! badly designed car that is too heavy and underpowered to even drive like a sports car. theres a reason there worth nothing, seriously!

Drool

No bids!!!

Doubt v much it'll stay that way, but I'm so tempted to bid a grand at the last minute!

Nooo - don't do it Jane!! You need a sound reliable car for placements remember!! The RX8 will cost you dear in the first week.......

.......if you still fancy a convertible or sports car or something exciting from Japan, try and find a sound MX5 Mk1 instead...!! You still have your Mitsi for family journeys.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Ooof! thats not fun - and a good warning. Like I said, I'm not serious about getting one really, they just make me do a bit of drool lol

How many times have I considered an MX-5? Dozens I reckon, and I still haven't test driven one. I reckon I'd love it tho. I loved my MR2s, I do rather like girly two seaters, it has to be said lol. Maybe I'm just like Daffy lol

Nothing wrong wirh "girly" two seaters Jane - if they have the pulling power and cubic capacity to back it up that is (but I have to say that, don't I - LOL)....:innocent:

....but seriously though, why not try an MX5 - or perhaps find yourself another tidy MR2 as they can be bought for very little nowadays!

i will sell you a zx12r ninja as a run around lol.

F**k that, 4 wheels lol

I've got an mx5. I love it. It's like a dodgem and great fun to drive. Much better than mk3 mr2 tho I loved my mk2 mr2s as well. And it's not totally impractical. Decent boot fits a supermarket shop. And it's fine over speed bumps. Get a 1.8 not a 1.6 tho and they rust for fun. I looked at about 10 low mileage 2002 to 2006 ones and only 2 weren't rotten!!

They are worthless in the trade too! I'd say 1k for an 04 plate is about right! I wouldnt pay that tho. A chap traded one in for a motorhome and he got £700 for it on an 03 plate

i dont actually like them TBH, always thought they were ugly

Really? I think they're stunning cars

I'm with Allan on that Jane - the RX8 is ugly...... And those daft suicide doors are soooo 1959 - although quite acceptable on a Rolls Phantom, they really do not suit a so-called sports coupe!!

As Sir Charles says, they are unloved among the trade; and no doubt for good reason!!

They really hold their value the MX-5s don't they? I reckon on my meagre budget, given what you said about rust, if I were to consider one, then a Eunos/Jap import might be a better bet especially as I wouldn't manage to get anything as new as 02-06. An, I have to just say, flippy up lights lol

I can imagine, I know they're not well loved, but I do like em, they're just a bit different. But I was only joking when I posted about the one on eBay, its not what I'm after really

I love the look of em but its definitely not in the running for now - didn't realise they were quite such donkeys tho, no wonder they are so cheap!!
