zed wont start

Zed has been sitting in garage since October so yesterday went to start it but battery was flat. So it was put on the charger last night and this morning the battery was fully charged but the immobilizer light was showing red instead of flashing red so the immobilizer is stopping the zed from being started. It is a Meta cat 1 system and it looks like it needs reset. Does anyone know how this is done? I. am at work and will do a search when I get home but any help here would save me time.

You could perhaps try taking the battery of the car and leaving it for a while, an hour or so and reconnecting that might reset it?

I had trouble with an alarm after changing a battery on the car, would go of when the car was locked. I Cured it by taking the battery of again and refitting. Most strange!

It's worth a try mate.

Yessssss it lives:dance: Disconected the battery for an hour and it reset the alarm, Thanks for the advice Quavey and Spin Doctor you both have rep:thumbup:

Weheyy! Glad it was an easy fix.

Went googling for you Gary...come back and it was sorted. :thumbup1:

Simple fix in the end Bri:biggrin: My big mistake was charging the battery while it was still conected to the car:pinch: wont be doing that again.

Never a good idea to do that bud

You could try a solar powered trickle charger if you're leaving it for extended periods over the winter Gary

Thought about one of them but would they be any good in the Winter? not much sun.

you can get a trickle charger thats mains mate...there meant to trickle just a couple of amps just to keep up with parasitic drain (clock..alarm..ect) so ok with the batt connected

Yeah would be fine mate, like Brian said it's only to top up what the immobiliser/alarm uses so it's ample. I would go solar but if you go mains powered i'd get a battery conditioner over a trickle charger for optimum battery health.

I leave my battery on charge, connected to the car for weeks, maybe even months at times. Oops! Although it does have 2 charging lights; 1 simply says charging and the other says ready and maintaining. I always assumed this was a trickle mode and is ok to leave for long periods (of forgetting I own a zed  )?

I have a HILKA mains charger, it as 2a and 6a charge modes, I always use the 2a and off the car, in the morning the trickle fully charged light is illuminated.

Expect I could use it in this mode 24/7 on the car with the same results and without a problem :cool3:.

ive always trickled my cars connected and sometimes tickle the wife to get connected:innocent:

Weird Gary for the first time I have had trouble with mine :crying:.

I have been messing this aft as I have the clocks out and been starting, having just ignition on, etc, so lots of key fiddling as I try things.

Usually my immobilizer led indication which is separate from my alarm flashes when armed, then when it sensors the key fob goes out and all the clock lights come on and I can start but it wouldn't let me and as I was cranking the led was flashing and this doesn't normally happen, the car just would not start.

.

I took battery off for a full hour and then re fit........started no problem and all behaved as it should :cool3:.

These alarms can get confused when they are down on power mate but disconnect the battery for an hour and they all reset to the propper mode. Glad you got it sorted Andy and what are you up to now? shurly you have every bulb and gadget changed and fitted now:biggrin:

My battery wasn't dead though as it was cranking and cranking like a good un - my immobilizer must of thought that someone was tampering with all my fiddling, on, off, etc.

Just done a few jobs on the clocks and over the years of connecting somewhat crudely at times to the sidelight circuit some of my connections on the light pod needed a good tidying so I was doing that today :thumbup1:.
