hid time

Right im going to get some HID's, when i got my zed, i have replaced all the internal cogs with tamiya gears, polished the projectors, and chromed the inserts. but i cant but the problem is i cant remember if i have uk or jap spec lights, basically at the time i removed the original UK lights, the jap ones were off the other car, now hopefully i refitted the uk, but this is me we are talking about, and if the evil stella artois was involved i could have a uk and a jap on my car now.

Question is Which HID kit is best for value and which one.

it will be 6000k, but is their a difference between Uk and Jap.......ie is UK H3 or H3C or is jap , i know main beam is H1 but that dosent need doing........

which one do i need, and anyone have some good links

Happy easter.............

I thought uk and jdm headlights were the same i thought it was that the bulb wiring was diffrent .uk cars have 2 pin H3 bulb with a seperate earth wire .and jap have single pin connecter H3C .I got the VIP hid 6000k from ebay been on a year now no probs around £30 i think .

H3

very slight mod if JAP (i.e. to convert the old H3C type)...

also I found it much better to get a relay harness so pulling the power direct form the battery and using the 20 year old wires on the car.

that also made the conversion easier.

Does'nt make any difference with it comes to fitting HID's. Both use H3 fitment (for HID's)

Hi Stu,

I can recommend this company:

http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/categories/hid-kits/hid-kits-by-bulb-type/h3

They're not the cheapest, but their customer service and warranty is good - I had a balast unit fail after about 15 months and they sent me a new one by return; no quible!! Plus they are UK based, which always helps!!

As Yowser says, the HID fitment is the same for Uk or J-pec; the bulb seat pattern is H3 for both. And as for the colour/temperature, the higher the number the more blue (and less useful) the light is. 4300-5000k is whiter and more in-keeping with the modern OEM units in Mercs and BMWs; whereas 6000k is more on the blue side. It's all down to personal preference; but I have the 4300k kit which is a bright, crisp white light - I would not go above 5000k myself; but I believe a lot of folks are still happy with the 6000k....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
