OK It's done and I like it

Thanks to the various advice on here I made a few changes to the body kit

In the end I left the bonnet bulge off - but have it sprayed white should I change my mind

Personally I don't mind it being on, but like the car without it too

The front bumper is the Viper V1. I had to get the centre part of the bumper modified so it sits level with the headlight panel

The rear bumper is a Shark V1 but very much modified so it's hardly recognisable asa shark. However IMHO it looks great on the car and the tail pipes sit very nicely against the bumper now

The side skirts are Demon - but with the vents modified to fit DRLs

The wheels are Dotz Hanso 19" I have ordered some centre badges wit ha white Z on a black background but they are not here yet

I've posted the pics here as no one can reply to my journal and I would of course like to hear any comments positive or otherwise

The custom DRL / Indicators as most will know are my own design

Some ideas are shamelessly stolen from pics of other members cars on here so I hope no one minds

Anyway pics speak louder than words so here they are

Hmm I did say some ideas were shamelessly stolen........

nice work there. What are you doing with the old wheels? Really liked them

  • Author

Well actually I was gonna start the split rim Antara 19" alloys on ebay at 99p with no reserve and let them go for whatever they fetch, they do need refurbishing before refitting though, but would be really nice once the effort was put in

I'll post up on here once I start the auction in the next day or two (as long as that is within forum rules of course)

but thanks for the positive comments guys, much apreciated as I put a lot of effort into it plus listened to various opinions here along the way.

Hopefully after getting her 'something like' I'm looking forward to come along with the 'bigger boys' lol to a few shows and stuff and it would be nice to get to meet some of you this coming year?

And Hopefully finances allowing phase two - full interior retrim - I hope to do end of Jan.... but then of course all that stuff under the bonnet needs some work but it may have to wait a little while longer

really nice zed you have there, good to see what a set of Hanzo dotz look like on a zed as im in the middle of refurnishing a set for mine.

Hey thanks phoenix :thumbup1:

Actually I am really happy as a pig in muck with the dotz hanzos 19s - I got them lacqured prior to fitting as I wanted a gloss rather than satin finish and that really brings out the best in them IMHO

got some Z centre caps coming and also gonna change that yellow DOTZ badge for a black/wht 300ZX one i think

What I really like about these wheels is the spokes form a kinda Z shape

Also thanks to all the other nice comments on this thread - it was a lot of work and that makes it more worth while that some of you guys like it - and the advice on body kit I got here was really useful. Yeah I know it's my car/choice/taste but it has been so good to get some other opinions along the way on bits I was uncertain about

cheers guys

Just another little touch added to the wheels

Z logo badges fitted today

Really I should have got it washed first lol. It's at the garage at the moment replacing the worn wheel studs so while I am at it I'm painting the calipers and hubs red

The wheel arch liner is not fitted at the moment as it was catching on the wheel and I need some more clips to hold it in place, most of the old ones broke

No Gary, they are stick on ones I got off a guy from ebay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140893813119?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

They look fine (mine were 60mm and he does various sizes / colours) but I am not totally convinced they are going to stay on, even though I get them lacquered over

If they start to come off I think I will try plan B - which is to get some smooth centre caps, spray them black, and get then some Z logos in white in stick on vinyl (probably try the same guy who sign-written my van) so only the Z is stick on, not the whole thing.

Then apply them and overspray with lacquer

You could have moved it a foot forward to line the badge up the right way mate..lol

There upside down mate...lol

Looking good :thumbup1:

Yeah I did worry about that but I thought it would be a bit OCD if everytime I parked the car I then nudged it back and forth a bit until they were the right way up :whistling:

I'm already parking like a girl to make sure I don't scuff them alloys!!

Actually Gaz those wheels of yours look real nice

Did I do the wrong thing fitting those very stark/angular dotz hanzos? Actually they look good on the car and personally I really like them but they do look a bit harsh in close up pics. As mentioned I am getting the calipers and hubs painted at the moment so they will look a bit dtfferent soon

I notice from you pics you also have the arch liners painted (or at least they look more black than mine, even when mine were fitted)

As this is intended to be a show car come fun road car (not daily runabout) maybe I need to spend a little more attention on this area of the car?

My pics are clear enough - advice happily accepted

But the hanzo wheels are staying

My arch liners are not painted mate just cleaned of all dirt and tar spots and kept that way every time I wash the car. Plus I keep the inside lip of the wheel arch free from dirt as this is what starts the arch to rust. The amount of cars I get and put my finger around the inside arch lip to find they are full of mud!
