Key wont work.

I got a new zed key cut today but when I tried it on the car it would open the door but not turn in the ignition. Anyone know why this is? It is a genuine nissan zx key.

looks like the ignition and door barrels have worn slightly differently.

I'd say take it back to the key cutter and get them to check it against the original and maybe soften it some more (round it off).

ok i'll do that. The guy said if it doesnt work then bring the lock in and he'll match it up but dont really wana start taking the ignition off the car. The original does start the car no problem.

I got a spare key with mine and have the same problem, it will only do the door or ignition, I can't remember which

That's the valet key !

Maybe, the teeth look the same profile as the titanium key but it's not like the valet keys above. I just thought it was a crap copy

i always thought that valet key should start the car but can`t unlock glove box ... that`s what mine does
