Afternoon guys

Need a little bit of advice re ebay...

Basically, I am selling some IT kit. Some of the items are still in the box, never opened, but are now not going to be used.

Someone has offered me a fair amount of money to buy them "off ebay" - asking me to end the auctions, send him my paypal address and he will pay, then I send him the items.

I am a little bit suspicious as I know that a lot of dodgy stuff can go on, and some sellers on here have been screwed over recently, so wondering what people think the best course of action is?

Any thoughts please?

Thanks!

Alex

If you are doing it outside of ebay, get him to send you a cheque and wait before it clears. If you do it with paypal he can raise a case and get his money back. I would not do it personally.

As above don't use PayPal as they can request money back at anytime.

Ok thanks guys, didnt realise you could request money back through this.

I'll ask him to send a cheque and see what he says...

He does have about 100 stars and has 100% feedback over a period of a few years, but still, wary...

I do this all the time if selling for a large sum of money so as to keep away from the ebay charges, but as above I ensure the money is my hands before I commit.

cash on collection is always best i find for things that sell for more money as i dont trust the postal service either, and ebay and paypal offer protection for the buyer but not the seller

Well he's offered me £1350 for the kit, which is a very decent sum of money... I'm based in York and he's in London so cash on collection isnt an option unfortunately...

I've messaged him asking if he'll pay by cheque though, I can then clear it before I send the kit!

well just make sure you send the best post possible, recorded, signed for and insured, that way you cover yourself with proof of posting and delivery...glws mate hope it goes smooth for you!!

Don't really wanna send my bank details to some guy on ebay, appreciate its quick but he could do with them whatever he wants!

For that sort of money. Meet the fella half way. Give him the goods when he gives you the cash.
