Not impressed, our 2 year choc lab Primrose went for a check up today for her ear infection. The wife took her and our other lab as wee, she's stood in reception when a guy comes in with another lab, Primrose barks and the other lab piles in and had het hind leg in his mouth. Between my wife, the bloke and the vet they manage to get him off her, they quickly checked her over and said all ok. My wife got home to find blood in the car, took her back down only now to find this ...

 

 

Now due to patient confidence they can't give us the name of the guy who brought the dog in! So they will ring him and ask him to contact us to sort it out, if he doesn't call we have to report it to the police to do something! Our priority is to get her sorted so she's back intomorrow for an operation to sew her back up (£300), problem is she's now scared stiff of going in there.

Oh poor luv!! Going to the vets is stressful enough. Labs are tough tho and I'm sure she will be bouncing around again soon.

So sorry to see this I don't know how i would feel about this if it happened to cassie, the owner should at least be made to pay something,

That looks like a bad cut mate and hope Primose gets better soon.I think all animals have a fear of the vets and this makes them very scared of all other animals.

Wounds in her chest and is too big to glue/stape so it has to be stitched. I love dogs and wouldnt hurt one but I'm afraid to say if I was there the boot certainly would of gone in on the other dog to get him off. No contact from the owner tonight so we'll see tomorrow if the vets spoke to him tonight. I'll be more p@ssed if they did and he hasn't bothered to call!

I'd be getting the vets to pay up for the stitches mate, threaten to go to the papers about it. They'll soon cave in. I'd be furious if it was my dog.

Untrained dogs are a public menace, to both people and other dogs, not helped by incompetent irresponsible owners! A dog can be trained to be comfortable in anothers company, shame we can't say more about the owners.

 

Yes i am a dog owner and yes I've had my dog trained and yes this situation has happened to our Collie/ Lab

The vet must have business insurance. If he hides behind DPA then tell him you'll claim off his insurance. His public liability insurance certificate must be clearly displayed for you as a customer to view. You can get the company details from it. It won't take him long to sort your dog out rather than have a claim against him.

The vets say even though it was on their premises it's nothing to do with them as she wasn't under their care at the time but in the public reception. Logically I can see this being the case so not sure I can do anything with them?

Well if they're saying that then tell them that they won't mind you going to the local press and telling them what happened, just as a warning for other dog owners ;)
