I've been looking for well over a year now and I've just seen this one for sale which is the perfect spec that I'm after but what do you lot think about the price, 6k a bit too much ?

jimmynixx any chance I can have your number for a chat about your ex car as I'm interested in buying it but need more info.

If the car's as sorted as it sounds and needs nothing doing to it, then yes it's well worth the money imo.

I don't think that would be fair to the garage and I'm concerned about liability for even admitting to be the previous owner on a public forum. I'll just reiterate my point of being careful when bidding them on it and ensuring that it's started from cold.

In turbo cars, considering that it is the original set of turbos, that is also something to look at carefully.

I didn't want to go through the rigors of selling privately as I needed something better suited to my needs and didn't fancy potentially waiting ages for a sale. Even though it's possible I would have gotten more money for it than what I chopped it in for. It drives well. No mods and as far as I know hasn't ever been dicked about with.

I think Jimmer volunteered to check it out, from lurking on the forums he knows his eggs and could tell you the ins and outs mechanically better than I could.

would love that, wonder if its the one kirby klan owned, that was mint

If I remember rightly this was on my short list before I purchased mine, which I have now sold on. How this cars looks makes me wonder why I sold mine. :mad2:

As the saying goes "rule with your head not your heart" How wrong can it be!

Does anyone know this car http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/nissan/300zx/nissan-300-zx-manual-twin-turbo-1994/897092. I might need it to cure my itch.

Oh, and if anyone wondered I went for a hot hatch, Japanese obviously. :)

What did you get?

yeah i thought the Indicators should be Normal semi transparent plastic not smoked as this was for the later 98/99 spec cars

All UK cars had smoked "blank" corner lights; and clear side/indicator combi lights where the J-spec front fogs are....:thumbup1:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

What did you get?

EP3 Civic Type R.

Cracking car, really good fun. Shame it's FWD but with practicality comes sacrifices I guess.

Pulsar GTIR would have been nice but, rarity, maintenance and age are heavily stacked against it for me.

Hi jimmynixx,

Thanks for your reply and infor and I understand where your coming from just one last question I like to ask if I'm looking to pay 6k which is top money for the car it has to be mint through out with nothing needing doing to the car but on your last 2nd message you said, "but to be honest it could use a bit more cash throwing at it" what do you mean by that, it does need a bit of work doing to it on top of the 6k I might be paying for it?

I apologise in advance for any typos as I'm on my phone.

Firstly I can't tell you what the car is worth. It's your wallet and your money and I'm not selling it, I'm just linked to its history. Like I said, I paid 6k 18 months back and put a few thousand into it. I don't know what your experience with cars is like so it's hard for me to quantify what you'd think of as a big deal. It's on it's original turbos and coming up to 70,000 miles. Make of that what you will. I would personally be looking at them very closely if I was buying a similarly aged and mileage vehicle.

These aren't cheap cars to run. A £6k car that's 21 years old will not be as sorted as a £6k car that's 5 years old for example. I'm sure other forum members that aren't into modding and that run stock cars will attest to horrendous running costs through routine maintenance, petrol and the things that are less than expected.

If you're anticipating buying a £6k 21 year old Japanese car with near supercar performance (for the age) and spending nothing on maintaing it then you're probably looking at the wrong car. If you want decent tyres you're looking at well over £150 for each rear. That could be a lot if you're coming from something like a Golf and usually pay £50 a corner.

Would I buy another 300zx? Yes. But would I buy at the top end of the price bracket? No.

It's 21 years old. Good condition, but used. Stuff just eventually doesn't work as well as it used to.

In my personal opinion a £2k car with £4k of engine rebuild, turbos and uprated suspension would be money better spent.

It's worth whatever someone wants to pay for it... Let them make their own mind up what's good or bad value.
