Wipers with a mind of their own?

Anyone seen this before:

Driving along minding my own business when suddenly the windscreen wipers come on all by themselves. The only way to stop them is to turn off the ignition - something that's a bit difficult in rush hour on the A12!

I've taken the wiper fuse out and put it back in when it starts raining, but it's not really ideal. If anyone can point me at what this might be I'd really appreciate it,

Many thanks for such a quick reply. I'll follow up on this and post again when I've got it fixed,

Cheers

Hehe yeah mine did this. When I took the wiper motor unit appart, the switch that tells the car when the wipers are 'parked' wears out and stops moving with the wipers. The result is the wipers keep on running waiting to reach their end position - which they do but the switch isn't saying they are. TBH the design is sh1te. The only connection between the motor and switch is a small plastic 'lip' and this is the part thatr wears. Contact one of the breakers on here - I'm sure someone will have a second hand motor unit. Have fun removing the black covers at the bottom of the windscreen too - those plastic screws/inserts are just great... NOT! wink.gif
