eek.gif I just picked my car up after 2 weeks in the bodyshop and it is almost impossible to get into gear. The pedal is limp for most of its travel and only just bites when it is right on the floor.

2 Qs:

Q1 - when I dropped it off at the bodyshop, it was fine. For what possible reason is it now so bad? (The tripmeter indicates less than 1km so it can't have been thrashed, surely?)

Q2 - is this the fix? Or is there a worse problem lurking? http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnetfaq/FAQpages/clutchadjustment.html

(had new Nissan clutch Feb 2000 - no track days, never raced or rallied)

TIA - Gio

Have they fiddled with something that has let air into the system, or has the fluid leaked out ?

Thanks Andy - AFAIK, they shouldn't have had to do anything like that. It was just rear bumper/spoiler and front spoiler respray.

If air had got into the system (or fluid leaked out) is this the typical symptom? i.e. would the clutch bite too early or hardly bite at all with the pedal on the floor (like mine)?

If anything has allowed air to get into the system then yes the pedal will go to the floor (air compresses, fluid doesn't [at least not much for us pedants!])
