At my work there is a lift for the disabled which is new but barely used.

Tonight as I passed it I noticed all the lights inside were on and the three buttons were flashing

that you push to each floor; well I stupidly decided I would investigate and I pushed the outer

button and the lift unlocked so I opened the door - no sooner than I noticed the lift was infact

broken down the lift door closed and locked behind me.

Phone in hand I called our main office and explain what happened and to get some help.

Then I explained through a pain of glass that they need to go get the spare lift keys to reset it

and also try find the spare outer door key as I had the masters in my pocket; luckily they got both

and managed to get me out after 5 or 10 minutes of them laughing at me.

What a laugh and only bloody me would get stuck in a lift.

lol

LOL - I hope it wasn't one of my company's lifts mate.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Ooh! I hate lifts. Got in one when I was young and all the lights went out and nobody could find the buttons in the pitch black! Then that man got chopped in half in omen 2 and it gave me the heebies. Now I always stand with my back right against the wall like a complete weirdo

I took a similar risk today, the lift was sitting there while I pressed the button and wouldn't open. I knew they were moving furniture in it earlier and may have put overloaded it... I pulled the door open and got in and took my chances and came out unscathed  There is a sticker from the manufacturer inside with the emergency phone number "schindler's lift" http://www.schindler.com

lol likewise!!! youd be lucky to get an engineer to get you out on a friday evening its poets day!!! lol

Whats your company?

after 5 or 10 minutes of them laughing at me....

lol

Only 5 or 10 mins? Think you got off lightly :D. To add to the Schindler's lift story, it is claimed that some USA companies like to answer the phone by announcing the company name and location in a cheery voice. One of the other famous lift companies (the four letter one beginning with "O") had a UK office in that Berkshire town just off J10/11/12 of the M4. Ring 'em up and they answered "Otis, Reading". Allegedly.

Heh heh - not sure I want to post a link on a public forum..... Just in case it was one of ours!! We only supply and install platform-type lifts - primarily for disabled access - but we do sell more of them than anyone else in the UK.
