Im sure if the crank has never had a grind in the past there is std stamped on the shell somewhere ,id go for ACL bearing shells think there oz made lots of the drift guys use them my mate has them in his s13 and gives it loads of abuse.

optimism will have you spending good money and wasted time...you really cant cross your fingers with bottom end knocks mate,in actuall fact its easier to pull the motor and have it upside down on a engine stand than fking about under the car trying to remove the sump and rod end caps amoungst other horrible bits too.

what he said..i had bottom end knock only drove it for 2 miles to get home but in the long run it was cheeper and less time consuming to get a new engine..might not be the case for yourself but if your gona inspect it the get this....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Plastigauge-Engine-Bearing-Clearance-Gauge-/270939429732?pt=UK_Measuring_Tools_Levels&hash=item3f153f9b64
