Water bypass...EGR gone...now next i want to make this crankcase venting thing simple in the form of tossing the PCV valves into next doors garden and all its crap that goes with it and have a catch can for the 2 cam cover breathers near the throttle bodies venting to the ozone layer old school style,so the only thing going into the plenum is fuel and fresh air. Would you like to discuss:yes:

have you done prv carbon canister aiv aswel? sure you probally have. on the subject of the pcvs cant help you, however i know one or two that have done it suffered from catch tanks that dont drain back to the sump. causing the oil level to drop drastically.

Interesting comment on catch tank, as I have just replaced PCV valves and pipes on mine and was told about maybe fitting a catch tank

Isn't the idea of an oil catch tank to hold the manky shit seperate and stop it from going back into the sump/engine (ie. to be disposed of post track session etc)?

yeah it will drop the oil level .. but at least it can be reused ... oil will be no cleaner/dirty than whats all ready in the engine

not wasted thou the intake system and out the exhaust

carbon can yes...plus ime having mine on a total loss system (vented tank)...should only be crankcase fumes anyway mate and not oil as the 2 small pipes are at the top of the covers.

the oil thats in the engine is Kinda dirty but not in the way it can not be used ..

after all ... the oil in the engine gets recycled once engine is off and Running ...

the oil in the catch tank is only the oil that gets thrown up/around the engine that would normally get sucked/pushed in to the intake and gets burnt

in the cylinder

i suppose that depend son how quickly it builds up. rember how little oil there is in the sump half a litre in the catch tank isnt ideal

oil loss wont even be worth counting as ive had a home made system on my puegot boxer van for 2 years with a lot lot more crankcase blowback and ive collect 25mm of oil in a tank the size of a coke can in all that time

under the cam covers theres a plate that seperates oil from the vent gasses...should be NO oil coming out the breathers if the motors healthy Mark

the main Problem with the Zed is the way all the intake system is set up

with blow by does make the hole thing worse but with worn out or bad pcv valves

it will put to much Positive intake pressure in the crank case as well

and push oil though the Pistons rings .. if bad but the main one is the oil seals on the tubs ..

Oil going in to turbo how it should then all so positive pressure on the oil drain side ..

( Sump turbo drain ) the only place for the oil to do is the turbo oil sales

Inlet/outlet side

so u get oil in pipe work or in exhaust system

yes on Paper ... in real world It does but like u said the amount should be very min

the Main 2 resosne for moving the pcv's

Stop Oil Entering Intake system

Stop Oil being forced back thou tubs on Positive boost

and the only way to stop this is

New PCV's or Catch tank set up

Yea its so much healthy for an engine not to have positive pressure in the sump and crankcases....these cars are so over complicated around the intake area its not even half funny...the only problem i see is the idle being a little low much the same as when you open the oil filler cap and the RPM drop a little but once the vent system is set up then it must be possible to just change the idle parameters to compansate.

just leave it as is how nissan inteded. they know what there doing lol!!!

On a plenium pull its only 2 pipes you have to pull off anyway :winkiss:

they did,nt when the made the crank timing belt pully with no way to pull it off the crank except a hammer and chisel:blink:...you keep cleaning you PCV valves or smelling blue smoke Dave, ime going clean n fresh in my combustion dept:rofl:

only cleaned them once in 6 years and never had any smoke ever. no oil in those pipes baby

She will be mate she will be. only been flared out about 35/40mm tops. its just time i need. the best thing is it still looks totally OEM from every angle. so only a zed owner will no its a wide arch and it just looks perfect imo. follows the curve/shape and the width of the front arches.

I think the back of the zed looks flat compaired to the front so i have hopfully sorted this :)

Rear bumper and spoiler look perfect for the car. you will see oneday :lol:

Has anybody ever run two smaller vented catch tanks on a VG, just out of interest? Not entirely sure why I'm asking but one of the pics in the link above shows a hell of a lot of hose running from one side of the engine to the catch tank on the opposite side, I figure maybe two smaller tanks (one on each side) might be an option??? standing by to be corrected...
