Anyone non mechanic pulled their engine before????

Hi I have Nissan 300zx and I am thinking off pulling the engine out to fit my GT2860 tubs! Other than a PCV kit replace and an airfilter I haven't performed any kind of mechanical work on my zed, so has anyone on here ever taken their engine out??? Just want a bit of feedback to see what i'm up against

yeah so I need to get new down pipes to fit, but on the compressor end where you can see impeller on the standard turbs there is like an oval shaped flange with 2 bolt holes which is where i'm told a pipe secures too, but on the turbos I have there is no 2 bolt flange so i cannot secure said hose!! but i'm told using a silicone hose and a hose clip is more than adequate???

yeah .. you just have Pipe flange inlet type thats all ... but this means u have to Mock up some pipe work to the meet up with the Intake hard pipes just behind the main lights

that doesnt seem to tricky! All this is great info, with the mock up pipework im assuming i can use silicone hosing

to easy ways

Save file to desk top and use the Forum Pic uploader if u click the ( Go Advanced button to the lower right )

other would be to Upload them to Photo bucket and copy the IMG file

Click Go Advanced

then below the Text box

it says " Manage Attachments: "

Do so and follow what it says

ok theres 3 things your gonna have to do

Make up

piping for the Comp Inlet

need new Coupler for Comp outlet

Both Tubs will need new Actuator brackts and clocking

Drivers side at 90*

Passenger side at 45*

you can leave the Boost line tap there but u will need to Incorp your boost controller there

and one other thing ... Do that have garret stamped in the housing as they dont look like garret units

thank you, clocking?? Also when i rotate the compressor housing can I not just rebolt on the acuator housing why do i need a new one

yeah clocking is when the Front Comp housing is rotated ... as your doing that it will move the act bracket and it will not be inline with

the Act valve on the exhaust side

I got them used but brand new off a chap on ebay who did say that they would fit my car, so i'm now weighing up the pro's and cons do I work with them? or do I get rid and get ones to fit

they will Fit .... but Not direct bolt on far from it m8

you kinda jumped in the deep end with these

not all bad ... what u could do is Chop off the Bolt flange for the intake comp and use a Coupler to join them

you need to get some Oil lines with 1mm restricters in them .. If them tubs are ball bearing type

if not and standard Jornel type .. u be good with your normal oil/water pipe work

Well as it stands the turbos on my Zed are fine so I have time on my hands, I am definately gonna pull the engine out but I want to keep it as simple as possible, the turbos I have are gonna make it more dificult and as they are not Garrett (I was told they were) I question their quality and are they gonna blow after a few 1000 miles, so what I think i'm gonna have to do is sell these for what I can and get some genuine tubs from a reliable source
