I've been hunting for a 300 ready for next month when I get rid of my Scoob. I was after a turbo, but thinking I may settle on a non turbo. Can anyone give me a heads up for the performance difference?

I can't find any official figures anywhere. Some say 170bhp for na but others say 222bhp and 280 or 300bhp for turbos. 0-60 in 7s for na and 5.5s for turbos. Also what's the spec differences between the UK's and imports. I can't insure an import yet but would be nice to know.

And one other thing, if I got a non turbo, what are they like to convert to turbo? Is

Sorry if this seems totally newbie but I've never really looked at 300's :D

Should be NA 220 TT 300 but this did change from production date and place they was shipped to

if your selling a Scooby turbo ... i would get a 300zx TT ...

NA can be converted to TT ... but does involve in an engine rebuild or swap for tt block

as Internals ( Pistons/Rods ) are different

It's also worth noting that UK spec zeds were only available in twin turbo guise, if you get an n/a, it will be an import. As mentioned, it doesn't seem to make a massive difference between UKDM or JDM nowadays but there was a time where it was cheaper to insure a uk tt zed then it was to insure a jspec n/a. I would advise getting some quotes before you commit to anything.

Ah right. One it's a non turbo scoob I've got as I can't afford the insurance on a turbo, hence why I'm looking at a turbo zed for the performance. But I love the V6 sound so I reckon I would be happy with non turbo. And the imports, my insurance company won't cover, but a UK zed tt they will for about £100-150 a month. I've found a nice tt in Bristol but gotta get rid of the Scoob. I was just interested in spec and official figure differences.

Bearing in mind I'm only 20 and I havn't got a massive amount of funds available.

Shop around buddy, there's plenty of other insurers out there that will insure an import.

Its been said above but remember that all UK spec cars were Turbos, so if its an NA you are looking at it WILL be an IMPORT. You will generally find that an import NA will be more expensive than UK model to insure.

However I've found insurance reasonable on them at a young age, I had my first 300zx TT import at 20 and it was about £1500 a year, granted things have gone up a bit since then (5 years ago) but the values of the car have gone down and the age has gone up so classic policies are often quite attractive.

They are certainly cheaper to insure than imprezas, skylines and evo's as generally less young people have them so less crash them etc etc. Good luck with the search and make sure you buy the best car you can!
