bonnet sound deadning

Ok,i admit its prob a daft question, but considering the amount of heat produced from a zed engine would it be ok to remove the deadning material from under bonnet, has anyone done this, just worried that the heat might fookup me paintwork, cheers.

Hi bud,im not sure if its a good thing or bad,but ive removed my insulation after installing vents.ive not found it made any difference, apart from my engine being cooler due to the vents, without the vents id say leave the insulation in ,it gets damn hot in there.jay

Nice vents jay,me thinks thats a good idea to add to my list!.I suppose only way to find out is try it with the material out and keep eye on it,check to see how hot it gets before and after so to speak, unless i hear from someone whos running without it on stock bonnet, cheers.

what is the advantage of removing it?

Nothing? leave it in as they put in on for a reason.

Can hear the engine more? Anyway Max Power says it will add another 20bhp easy! biggrin.gif LOL

Well my idea of thinking on this is that it must act as a quilt/blanket holding heat in,restricting air flow etc,if its only purpose is to make car sound a little noisey then why not dump it, clean up/polish underside of bonnet at same time, would look better to say the least!

Quite common in the US were people seem to like to put mirrors in between the support spaces.
