Steering Rack bushes...

Are there bushes/bearings in the steering arm - that, when worn create horizontal movement? Or do I need to replace the rack?

Probably a daft question, but your help appreciated. Got through the MOT - but with a comment!

    Not too sure exactly how many bushes there are on the steering rack, but I had a problem with the mounting bushes. Basically, these had worn through and was allowing about and inch and a half of lateral movement. I knew there was something wrong as the steering had become very vague and the steering wheel wouldn't return to the central position after a full lock turn.

     

    My friendly local mechanic replaced them for £36 all in. It's now like driving a new car!!
