Morning

Any body out there know of the cheapest way to get a car collected and delivered?

The car in question is drivable, but not road legal!

Many thanks:cool3:

I use a local company to transport new cars between dealers, he charges per job so to give you an idea the last one I had collected cost £70 + VAT which was 80 miles away from me

Also why not road legal? No MOT / TAX?

You could hire a van £45, hire a trailer£40?

400 mile round trip, £50-60ish.

or if you have a car that can tow, you have saved £45 already.

No nothing.

hire a dolly then transport it yourself or even better buy one for about £130 on ebay

Not confident enough to do that:scared:

I hired a transporter £96 for the day with250 mile allowance and each mile after that was just 9p

Good call.........who did you use?

Have a van but as above not confident enough to do it!

haha, this is why i get my dad to tow it!! Plus, apparently your meant to take a test to tow a trailer.

That transporter sounds your best bet off martin, cheap too.

Put it up for grabs on Shiply. Lots of car movers on there. Its quite a cut throat game too.

I would just book it in for an MOT back home and drive it here yourself! You just need to insure it

Not quite that simple:no:

Not legal.

Even if its 200miles away...

I looked into it before and no distance is mentioned in the wording.

You MUST NOT drive a motor vehicle without an MOT certificate when it should have one. Exceptionally, you may drive to a pre-arranged test appointment or to a garage for repairs required for the test.

Driving an untaxed vehicle to an MOT test

You can drive your vehicle to and from a pre-arranged test at an MOT test station as long as you have adequate insurance cover.

This also applies to vehicles being driven to and from a pre-arranged test at:

a Vehicle Inspection Check (VIC) test station

an approved weight testing station and reduced pollution test station

Both quotes taken from direct.gov and do not say that the MOT station has to be within a certain distance
