What is it with stuff nowadays - I am normally a patient man, but as Jeremy Clarkson has said before, "Everything is rubbish and doesn't work....!!"

On a whim this morning, I decided to upgrade my mobile phone. Now whilst I appreciate the workmanship that is the new i-Phone5 and the capabilities of it's (so-called) rival the Samsung Galaxy, or whatever; I am still a dinosaur and want a mobile phone that is, well, a phone. I just want to make calls and the occasional text; plus make sure it connects with the Bluetooth systems in my SLK and ZX....

.....so with my trusty Nokia C3-01 looking a bit 20th century, I bit the bullet and picked a free HTC Desire C; so at least it looks like it's a bit contemporary. The chap in the shop was quite helpful and supposedly acknowledged that it was more of a "telephone" than some handsets available..... So I went for it.

Firstly, I am not overwhelmed with the touchscreen thingy; although I guess I'll get used to it. But what really really boils my piss is the fact that there is no instruction book:hammer: Yes, I'm a man and we normally do not read the things - but come on, really? All I want to do is read the basics, like how to get rid of the stupid f***ing widgets and icons on the home screen but all the "settings" do is bloody add them. If I want to know anything, even how to open the damn thing and put the SIM card in, I have to log into HTC's website - on the home PC, as I have no instructions how to do it on the f***ing phone.

This is not a good way to endear me to your product HTC; and if, by tomorrow, I haven't thrown the f***ing thing out of the window (or sold it on Ebay) I might just call your f***Ing helpline and tell you what I think of your company......:2guns:

Sorry - rant over....:winkiss:

hate to say it, but this is why the iphone is really that good, as its so bloody simple to use, yet so powerful in the process.

Good to know I'm not alone Bri - I fully agree on the TV issue as well. Hell, if you buy a wide-screen TV, why the f*** do you STILL get the bloody "letter-box" picture. The damn TV is already made to facilitate that FFS.....!!!

So I hear mate - but it is also too big for my liking as I prefer the smallest, slimmest, lightest phone that will sit in my back pocket and not get in the way or break if I fall on my arse during the odd outdoor pursuit. The iPhone is just too much more than just a phone for my liking - and I'm sure I would be happy living with the damn thing I got today; if only it came with a good old fashioned instruction book!!!

lol.. yeah, I've got a HTC wildfire.... and just like you both said... junk!!! I hate it...

can't do heaps of stuff it should, can't find anything on it where I think it should be... and still (after months) hate the stupid touch screen... :smash::smash:

Oh, well.. at least I can look forward to one day (soon) being senile and not caring.. :)

This any help ?

I found various explanations on how to do stuff for my Samsung 3 on Youtube !

Like turn it on ! :whistling:

Alan.............

thanks Alan,

LOL.. got board after a couple of minutes.. will have a another look later...

don't need help to turn it on... need help "not throwing it out the window" :)

The iPhone is not simple to set up out of the box either because you have to use shitty itunes unless that has changed. I remember being an early adopter of the original iPhone and not being able to send an MMS out of the box plus you couldn't use it until you sync'd with gaytunes. Was the same with the 3G which ended my love affair with the phone

You should have gone for one of the new Nokia classics Richard... would have done the job for you and does the phone functions much better than any smartphone and thats coming from a smartphone user!

LOL - I know Dean!! I have a perfectly good Nokia C3-01 with a normal keypad and a touch screen..... I like that phone so I'm keeping it just in case!!

I have paired the HTC with the MB phone system; and it works fine. I have also paired it with the Kenwood unit in my ZX - again it works fine, except that for some reason the bloody phone book is displayed with surnames first in the ZX. Why, I do not know!!

I'm also not convinced as to its ability to pick up a signal though. I know that Orange has a transmitter out of action in my area at the moment - which might explain why the HTC loses the signal intermittantly. However Julia's Nokia (also on Orange) had a good signal all day today - and when I popped my new SIM back into the C3 earlier it also picked up a strong signal. I have decided to stick with the HTC for a week and see how it behaves in all circumstances. At worst, it could have an internal aerial fault so I'll have to get a replacement at the weekend if it persists. But at least I'd have tried.....

....and Rich, good call on the alcohol mate!! It worked last night!!
