Not me that's poorly but my gorgeous baby girl who has had a radial mastoidectomy for a cholesteatoma :( Consultant said her diseased ear was much worse than anticipated. Hence four hours of surgery. Worst bit is, we have to do it all again in 6-8 months time. I'm so upset for her.

Wish I could go through it for her. Can't bring myself to tell her she's got to do this all over again next year :( :(

aaw poor little lamb, hope she's ok mate.

PS what's she got, I don't understand the medical terms being thick like I is..

Bless her, fortunately kids are quite resilient and she will forget about the pain once its all over, but yes, must be hard for you to watch her go through it.

Lucky for her she has a nurse at home to look after her :thumbup1:

Aw thats a shame !!:crying: You always wish you could take the hit for them, dont you ?

Best wishes to you all !

awe Jane , so sorry , you must be going through the wringer....poor lass she looks all happy and then all hurt and sad....she will bounce back.....you need to tell her sooner rather than later, or it will be a real shock when she realises she has to go through it again.....try and make apositive out of the negative .....

wishing her a speedy recovery

Sending lots of healing vibes to your gorgeous baby girl, hope she makes a speedy recovery :)

I had no idea what that condition/operation was so I looked it up. Fortunately it sounds like the success rate is pretty good, so at least the discomfort will be worth it in the end. Hope you're both getting on fine now anyway.

Good to see that Teddy has a wristband too - sharing her experience !

Thanks everyone. She's home now. Still in some pain but glad to be back. Hospital wards are not the nicest of places when you're poorly. I won't tell her too soon about the next op as she's a worrier & she needs to get over this first. Not only that but the consultant told us earlier that she has to have the packing from the wound removed under another general anaesthetic in two weeks time so we need to get through that first.

On the plus side, I got my results for my first year & I passed my final assignment & portfolio so I'm officially allowed into my second year of training! Between now & then it may well be death by CBeebies lol. Thanks for all the good wishes x

Kids tv these days is rubbish. You need to introduce her to some of the good stuff from years ago like trapdoor or round the bend ( which nobody I know has ever heard of but it was hilarious!!)

i loved trapdoor with all the plasticine creepy crawlies wriggling around in the background , and the big fat plasticine creatures.

Glad she's home Jane, not a very nice thing to go through or any of you :( best wishes for a speedy recovery :)

Roobarb I loved Round The Bend (crocodile in a sewer?!) & I did have Trap Door on DVD lol! I'm sure we'll find it on YouTube. I also loved Dangermouse & Chorlton & The Wheelies!

Thanks for the wishes guys. She slept well & is much brighter this morning x

Never nice hearing someone has gone to hospital :( I hope she recovers well. Best wishes.

wishing her the Speediest of recoveries. and hope with the technological development in medical fields, they might have a painless and faster non surgical intervention in 8-months time.
