got a slight misfire on the z so i did a search on the forum and told me to remove the coilpacks one by one to c a drop in rpm.

so i did this and every one was showing a drop in rpm, but i had my doubts with one of them!! i put a spark plug in and fired it up and there was a spark???

so now i am scratching my head is it the injectors?? also where the misfire is coming from there is a slight rattle when i rev bit like a lazy tappet!! not sure what it is,

just rememberd i also put a screwdriver on to the injectors and they all want tat tat tat

is it ok to drive like this till i get it sorted?? could it b a duff plug??

any help or comments greatly appreceated

could be a duff plug, but clean out the injector connectors very well, this cured our misfire.

Just to second what Clarkey has said - when I pulled my plenum off (and all the injector plugs of course), where fuel had leaked onto either No4 or No6 (I forget off hand) injector from the fuel rail connection, the connector was so covered in green I had to hack it off the injector connector with a screwdriver...

The rattle could be an injector, but if they all tat tat tatt'ed the same when listening to them unlikely..

Hmmmmmm

The fact that a spark plug fired outside is no guarantee that it would do the same in the somewaht harsher conditions inside the cylinder. How many miles have the plugs done ? If they are around the 40-50,000 range then one may be failing. Still more likely to be a poor electrical connection as mentioned before, so check from the PTU onwards.

...and the CAS connector wink.gif

Could be a lazy O2 even. Do an ecu diagnostic check - both error codes check AND O2 Left and Right check.

i know this case is settled now (sorry to hear what happened frown.gif) But anyway the tap tap tapping from the injectors is a complete nonsense. One of the injectors on ours was dead and it still tapped exactly the same as the rest of them, my explanation would be the tapping from the other 5 can be heard through the injector rail (put the driver on the actual rail and listen), another guy said the taping noise was completely unrelated and injectors DO NOT make a tapping noise, and it was actually something to do with the rail pressurising or something, i didnt believe it but maybe???

Yeah I feel cackish about what has happened now mate!

FFS I've got a ConZult and a Techtom which we could've run up on the car to do the load balance tests and O2 checks etc.

Especially living down the road aswell.

Timmy, whats the conzult like, is it worth getting one?

Hi Mike,

Yeah I was impressed with it. Software is well written by Eric and chums and the whole package is very professional in layout and display.

For instance you can carry out the load balance test that poor Dewi was doing by pulling the coil connectors off from the warmth of the inside of the car.

You hear the cyl drop off and get a green light if all is ok on each cyl.

Loads of other features aswell which I haven't messed with.

You can check the ECU for error codes, see all your sensor voltages like the TPS, AFM, O2 sensors etc.

I can monitor a few bits and pieces from the Techtom but the ConZult is more detailed.

Only criticism is the diag port plug is a bit of a bugger to connect but I know that Eric had trouble getting anything close for the job. Just needs a little physical persuasion to get it in properly.

In the right hands e.g. someone who know what all the voltages and duty cycles of the injectors should be off the top of their bonce it's very powerful for diagnosing running problems.

I think it's well worth the money to be honest.

Thumbs up from me! wink.gif
