i got 3 points on my license, for a cu30 (defective tyre) which in march will be 3 years since the conviction date. now i cant remember how long these little tinkers take to get off my license. is it three years or five? have a nice clean license then(hopefully, unless the buggers sting me for something else). which considering i do around 30k a year and im under 30 means im a bit more likely to be both caught and prosicuted, they love the youngens :/

unfortunately I just got done for speeding (motorway) last month....

and I remember the officer telling me that the offense stayed on the license for 5 years but would only be mentionable for 3 (i.e insurance, well I think that is what he meant).... :)

does that sound OK?

Ah, poo.... :)

thanks for clearing that up...

now just to make sure I keep in the speed limit.... well at least I will be assured of better petrol mileage....

lol its so hard to stick to it like glue. round our way it goes up down like a yoyo. theres a few fast straight carriageways that you think are national they feel like they should be that have been taken down to 50, in the van im restricted by law to 60 on a dual and the amount of times because theyre so close i forget and drift up to 55/60. and of corse the cameras are about.

Its actually four years mate from the date of the offence

Has it changed then ? Thought it was 3yrs ??

Your both right actually......

......whilst points stay on your licence for 4 years before you can apply to have them removed, they do not count for "totting up" purposes (ie for the 12 you are allowed to accumulate before getting a ban) once they reach 3 years old.

Drink driving convictions (quite rightly) remain on your licence for 10 years though!!

Hope that helps,

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
