I don't know if it's just me, but have car insurance costs dropped recently?

Last year, after years of reasonably low prices, I struggled to get my SLK insured for under £500 and Julia's Rav for under £300; despite having no fault claims or convictions etc. ...

.....Our renewals have actually come in at quite reasonable rates compared to last year. But after going onto confused.com I have got them down to £342 for the SLK (inc. protected NCB, guaranteed like for like courtesy car, key cover, uninsured driver protection and legal cover) with Sainsburys Premier cover - and £216 for the Rav with Admiral; again including protected NCB, courtesy car (which could be a Daewoo mind:biggrin:) and legal cover!!

Not bad when I paid £499 and £295 last year!! I'm happy with that result - in fact Swiftcover would insure the SLK for £305 but legal and courtesy car were extra....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Hi Richard,

found the same, our lasses XC70 has gone from £550 to £360

my 530d msport £580 to £380.. this is 25K business miles...

Both with Swiftcover

but the Zed from £280 to £350??? WTF.. with Adrian Flux..

Multi quote with admiral for all 3 was £1610...

doesnt make sense....

Ive just been rear ended, got a letter stating that the other party involved had signed the document admitting liability, then the same day had another letter saying my insurance premiums had fallen? work that out LOL

Its all a bloody lottery, i live in whats deemed a safe area and have to cut out all the legal cover nonsense etc to keep it down for the zed. Bare in mind i paid around £300 7 years ago fully comp and this year they were wanting over £500, i ended up at £400, still reeling really as i should have just gone somewhere else.

Bloody hell Graham - your area must be classed as safe mate; The Island's got to be an ultra low risk area, surely.....

My ZX insurance comes up mid-November so let's see if the trend continues!!

Last year mine was a little more than that with Lynbrooks - FJ came up with a cheaper quote the day after I renewed...LOL

Hopefully I'll sort it a bit earlier this year and FJ will come up trumps for me too....

Had a laugh and got a quote for Jr. on the Range Rover, just short of £40,000.00 was the cheapest!!! And they wonder why youngsters are driving uninsured.

When did you get a range rover Ian? I fancy one of those one day. Might have to sell a kidney to afford it tho lol

Heh heh - hell I'd have just said... "OK then, do you want my credit card number?" just to see what their reaction would have been.....

....then there would have been one of those "bad signal" moments and the call would have somehow been dropped....LOL

I was quite impressed that my first insurance quote when I got my Zed was £7202...

Managed to get some insurance for £548 elsewhere though, don't think that's too bad considering I'm 23...!!!
