Any body have any thoughts on using uk based companies rather then going states side!

Been nosing around and z1/conzept etc all want $150 per turbo for exchange so this puts $300 or at todays rate of exchange extra £189 on top of cost of turbos!!! Is this still the cheapest way to go???

There must be companies over here, or is it because of the cost members are importing or are the ones over the pond a better Turbo?

depending on what turbos u want u need to remember the all tubs from the US are fitting with correct Actuators and Clocked correctly for the Zed and will come with the correct fitting items like braided oil lines and pipe work .. if needed ...

or you get your turbos made in to hybrids around t28 there abouts with expected power outputs around 550ish ( with other upgrades )

when i got my gt2560-R's from TD and got the fitting kit from US ... i saved around £700>800 with Uk warrantie what every that stands for ... is kinda usless anyways

as all turbo comps will put it down to your fault that its failed ...

Remember all so there is Postage of your old Tubs to the usa as well

So Would it be more benificial for someone to buy from the uk rather then the states, even though the warranties are crap..........I guess if I had a prob with tubs from the states it would be a nightmare sorting that out aswell.

Dave

I would not buy from the States as as you have correctly stated there could be warranty problems. I had a pair from Z1 and one failed after 250 miles, it was a nightmare getting them to agree to replacing it. The bearing had collapsed and caused the impellor to hit the body and this was during running in after a rebuild. Eventually after amonth of emails backward and forwards, they sent me just the core and requseted the old one back for return to the manufacturer. I had to suffer the cost of the engine being removed once again to fit the core. They did reimburse me the postage for returning the knackered core. Tread carefully on the British side as well as there are a few duffers amongst them especially down south.

I too am keen to follow this thread, I was thinking of getting mine from Z1 but dont like the idea of huge shipping and import tax costs.

Also, I beleive brand new ones are worth paying the extra for rather than rebuilt

Hi John hope you are well! thinking of getting them from czp but I guess all warranties would be the same.

Just been speaking or rather emailing cr turbos and they reply very swiftly and can upgrade my tubs with larger comp wheel and 360 thrust bearings for around £500 plus vat and postage so might give this a go :thumbup1:

Just been reading the email from cr turbos, and realised its £500 each:huh: so still undecided on what to do......the cost is not that different then buying from states now!

Oh what to do?

yeah they are expensive stock rebuild for about £350! however they are responsible for the turbo build on seven valley motorsports r35 gtr, the hulk as its known. they do also seem to be one of the only places round here that will balance a turbo youve built yourself. most dont seem keen on the idea. let me know how you get on if you get it round my way, most of the southern ones are here within a few miles.

Yea might still go with this as the import costs and core charges do push it up quite a bit!

Well I think il be rebuilding my stoklers myself and getting cr to balance them. So il let you know how I find them. youl be in my neck of the woods if you pop down. If you want a cuppa gimme a shout.
