Dangerous Power Steering Problem

I have borrored my JWT ECU to my borther and after installing it back to the car I have this problem.

When I start the car the steering wheel turns left/right without too much force. After few minutes of driving it gets very heavy. HICAS light is coming as well.

If i switch off the car and start it again its ok. A few minutes later it gets heavy again.

I have also removed my gauges (to replace speed meter) when i borrored my ECU and I havent install it back yet.

I check the oil and its nearly full.

Does this has to do with ECU or gauges (maybe speed sensor)?

So there's no speedo in the car??? Put that back and it may well work wink.gif I think the speed signal goes into the clocks and then out again to the PS HICAS etc - the speed signal isn't getting to the circuits...

You beat me to it Andy, the signal does go in and out of the clocks as far as I know so will **** things up remarkably!

Your "Dangerous Power Steering Problem" is probably because you are driving around dangerously without a speedo biggrin.gif

180mph officer? I didn't realise for some reason... biggrin.gif

Thanks everyone.

My car is undergoing a transmission transplant (AUTTO ---> MANUAL) at the moment and I have to wait until is done to check if it has to do with the speedo removal.

I will put it back as soon as it finishes and I hope that everything goes back to normal.

Hi,

My TT has the same problem. I've been advised that this is often the speed sensor on the gearbox casing.

Allegedly not something which you can access too easily without dropping the transmission frown.gif

You don't need to drop the box - just jack it up.
