For about £8 buy the universal split boots, cut to size and glue the seam, no need to take anything apart, job done.

dam, wish id thought of that,

If you are planning on removing the track rod end, which I have to say isn't too tricky, (crack the lock nut on the track rod. Take out the split pin, undo the nut on the ball joint side and knock seven bells out of the carrier). Whatever you do make sure you remove the abs sensor first, it's held in by a 10mm bolt at the rear. if you hit the hub carrier with anything harder than a marsh mallow with the abs sensor still attached there is a very good chance you will break the wire and end up looking for a new sensor (or two). also make sure when you unscrew the track rod end to count the number of turns so that you can refit it and hopefully your tracking will be about right.

Good Luck,

Griff

I did mine by wrapping some insulation tape around the arm adjacent to the locknut, then undo the lock nut and turn the adjuster until the thread comes out and remove old gaiter.slide the new one on, refit the threaded end into the adjuster and wind it up until you get to the locknut (which will be in the right place cos of the tape), do up the locknut and fit retaining clips (or good cable ties) to both ends of the gaiter and job done :)

thanks, ill be careful of the ABS sensor.

crack on then, my major problem was getting the darn thing off with the years of crap, and the fact the toe arm thread was fecked. i did the electricak tape trick but it definatly isnt quite aligned its ok but it defiantly pulls a little to one side more than before.

its one of the advantages for working for Nissan, getting to use the ramp and laser aliment tools...

... however the disadvantage is the mechanics will be looking for any excuses to fail it on the MOT... :sweatdrop:..
