bloody car!!

it seems that my starting problem is just getting worse and worse with every day!!!

usually it stalls once after starting when cold, then runs fine on the second start. but as the time goes by its just stalling more and more! this morning it stalled 4 times before deciding to run properly but absolutely stunk of petrol all the way to work.

the zeds holiday to the car doctor next week can't come fast enough!!!

Which car doctor are you using? Have you run through all other checks,ie spark etc?

i'm going to my local expert, T&M auto's. they have never let me down before. guna leave it with them while a go away for a weekend break(hopefully i'll come back to a fully functioning car). i have had a little look but don't really know a massive amount about these cars, i did have it hooked up to datascan last weekend but that didn't shed any light on any problems, not even a single error code.

could be a fuel leak, have a look and sniff around and after the fuel filter/fuel rail.

i think you are probably right about there being a fuel leak, i have had a look around the fuel filter and followed the pipes but can't see anything obvious, i'm thinking that it may be the pipes under the engine cover (which while it's at the garage will be getting replaced). but surely that wouldn't be the route cause of the starting issues would it?

It is possible, lack of fuel pressure as it drops in between starts, but it could also be many other things, but if your smelling petrol, it is pretty common for the fuel pipes on the top of the engine to spring the odd leak given their age, and if your having them replaced, I hope it cures your problem mate...

i'm praying that what ever the garage do is going to sort out the problem, because although it doesn't really affect anything other than starting the car, it's really pi55in me off now!!!

Let me know how you get on. Sometimes I am down your way and I could pop around and have a look. Hope the garage sorts it for you.
