Need help. I think my twin turbos need replacing but im not 100% sure.

My turbo guage says its pushing between 0.2 and 0.4 bar.

Can someone tell me how i can test to see if turbos need replacing.

they should be pushing out the stock boost value, the stock gauge is pretty inaccurate. and you shouldnt have any smoke. if theyre not smoking and your getting the full boost pressure then they are probally alright.

No smoke showing

Ive got an after market dial as well as the original. The after market is showing 0.2-0.4 and the stock dial is showing about 6-9 psi

First time ive owned a turbo and a 300zx twin turbo.

Is there any other ways to test turbo

From your description your turbo`s are working fine, however you have some issue witn the control of the boost pressure, this could be a simple electrical issue with the detonation circuit giving permenent safety ( lower than standard) level of boost.

There also a slight possibilty that you have a leak that is reducing the boost, however this will normally be accompanied by poor running and mpg, and at worse black smoke under load, leaking recirc valves will cause the same but without the running problems or black smoke.

What you have is effectively just some minor problem that has a big effect, but unfortunately as most of the issue needs some kind of technical diagnostic unless your mechanically minded I would recommend you get it checked out by someone with the appropriate equipement and knowledge (not a Nissan dealer ), will be quicker in the long run and most likely not that expensive.
