Window/roof leak

When out driving in the rain the other day, I noticed that there was a damp patch on the driver door arm rest. I traced the the trickle of water and it seemed to be coming from behind the trim at the top of the seatbelt. The window and roof rubbers all seem to be in good condition and there are no splits or cracks. Any ideas of where the water could be getting in?

Most probably the T-Top rubber seals. Treat it with some Auto Glym bumper care. Works for me. You have to do it every few months to keep it nice and supple

Cheers Stu,

It just so happens that I bought some Autoglym bumper stuff at the weekend so I'll give it a try.

The parts I find needing the most are two holes on each side that shrink over time and cause the rubber to lose its seal. Take the T-Top off and close to where the holes are near where T-Top metal spike goes in to lock there are 2 holes in the seal. One at the top of the A-Pillar and one at the top of the B-Pillar. Slap plenty of Bumper Care on them and also put your finger in and out of the hole for a few mins. Sounds perverse but it helps. wink.gif

I've heard the T-tops are adjustable. So that should help stop any leak...

A quick search on tt.net found this:

“Take the T-Top out and turn it upside down. Access the philips screw that is halfway under the rubber window strip at both ends. If you pull up the rubber lip you will see it. Loosen the screw and stretch the rubber by hand. You will not be able to stretch it much, but about 2 mm will do. Fasten the screw while stretching the rubber strip. If you put in your roof again, you will notice a little resistance. That's O.K. It will be watertight again.

Good luck.”

Also use silicone spray on the rubbers, it may help. If possible spray the rubbers and don't close the doors over night (if possible)
